Feng Shui Tips How
You can Apply Feng Shui Wisdom in Beauty Good Feng Shui has to do with beauty. This is to some extend relative to your taste, but there are some general guidelines you should follow to make your place beautiful: The obvious is to keep it clean and tidy, to keep all objects in a good state of repair. A freshly painted space has a much better feel than a place where paint is peeling, the carpets are worn or the taps are dripping. Clean windows are important. There is a big difference between an intentionally composed arrangement of furniture, colour and décor, and a half-hazard placement of random objects. Clutter Clutter is another factor that impedes good Feng Shui. It stops energy, - and people, from freely moving around a space. It is also visually unappealing and often consists of action cycles that have been begun but not completed. Such uncompleted cycles not only make your space look uncared for, they also slow your mental processes down. Completing everything you start, - by properly filing papers or putting your clothes away, gives you the space to live your life in the present moment. Check under your beds, in your wardrobe or neglected corners: Do you have clothes, papers or objects piling up that you have not used for a long time, but still keep in case you ‘need them one day’? I have a rule, I follow, that works very well: if I have not used something in a year, and it has no special value for any reason, I will give it away or throw it out. Shapes You can also influence the feel of a place by the shapes of its objects. Round objects are more dynamic than rectangular or square shapes. That is why it is good to sleep on a rectangular bed as most of us do. Boardrooms often use round or oval tables; - you can see we are instinctively using the shapes that facilitate the function of the space. If you want to bring more life into a space, choose a round table or a lounge setting with more rounded forms or an oval rug. Colour The other factor that influences the activity level of a space is of course colour. Pastel and light colours have a calming influence, while bright colours bring in activity. For a bedroom, I do not recommend strong colours, whereas a bright feature wall can bring a welcome flow of energy into a living or family room. Dashes of strong colour, such as a bright red vase, can bring life into a place. Specific colours can be used to enhance or weaken certain energies in a building. In the absence of a Feng Shui analysis, I cannot recommend specific colours, but I suggest you follow your gut feelings to make your place beautiful. Position The position of furniture in relation to doors and windows is extremely important. If you look around a restaurant, people always sit with their back against a wall, preferably with view of the door, if they have a choice. We feel ‘safer’ and more in control this way. Similarly, we feel better when sitting with a solid wall behind our back when working, at the dinner table or in the lounge. Desks are best positioned in the far corner away from the door, with a solid wall behind you and good view of the door and window. The best places around a dinner table are those with a wall behind you. This is also very important when sleeping. Your sleep can be disturbed by sleeping on the same wall as a door, or worse in front of a doorway. Sleeping under a window is similarly undesirable. The best position for a bed is again in the far end of the room, away from the door, with a solid wall behind you. Space Clearing Energy of people who have lived before you in a space tends to hang around long after they leave. This is why a new home feels so much crisper. In order to clear a space of old energies you can conduct space clearing. A thorough cleaning is important: scrub down walls, clean the carpets and wash out the storage areas, lamp shades, etc. This gets rid of a lot of old energy. Repainting is an even better option. Sometimes you get old spirits or energies still hanging around the house. To remove these intention is most important. You should command old energies or spirits to leave. There are many approaches to this. Bells, metal sound and sage are used by some 'to clear the air'.
