Rev. William ROGERSON was born in 1843 in South Cowshaw Farm, Tinwald, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. I had no more information on William until I came across a Rev William Rogerson in Warkworth.
My sister (who lives in UK) and I visited the Warkworth area and after much wandering around found his grave and discovered a new story of Rogersons. We found the newspaper report of his life and the funeral (huge - he apparently was a very prestigious person in the Alnwick/Warkworth area of Northumberland). The reports said Rev.William was a Dumfriesshire man and they mentioned Burnhead as where he was raised. Also the report noted that he was born in 1843. We do not have the absolute proof that Rev. William and the William, of John and Jannet, are one and the same (one day I will get his birth certificate!) but it all seems to fit.

As you can see, not exactly a great marriage/family experience, but Rev. William seems to have handled it and still managed to build a great reputation as he was just being appointed to the position of Moderator of the Presbyterian Synod of England when he became sick with appendicitis and
passed away. Much of his life story are in a book by Len Sherrat: "Brief History of Warkworth".
There is one strange negative about "The Reverend" (as he was known in Warkworth) which is noted in the book, he did not keep any records of Births, Christenings, Deaths, and Marriages. Without knowing the details of why he did (or did not!) this I wonder if he was influenced by his Uncle Bill from Thornhill. He, Uncle Bill, would be right in the middle of the rift which took place in the Presbyterian Church of Scotland in 1843 when one group objected to the State directing them to do things they didn't want to do. In fact Rev William's church was built just outside of Thornhill at Burnhead (leaving the other one to operate in town) - that is the "kirk w' the kruik in the wa' ", but that's another story!
