Sarah KENNEDY was born in 1768. She died on 25 Nov 1842 in "Kirkton", Branxton, Hunter River, New South Wales, Australia. She was buried on 27 Nov 1842 in "Kirkton", Branxton, Hunter River, New South Wales, Australia. Granddaughter of James Kennedy, younger brother of David Kennedy the 10th Earl of Cassilis.

The Kenneths or Kennedys settled in Aryshire in the 12th century and were known as the Kings of Carrick. Sir John Kennedy lived at Dunurne Castle in the 14th century. The first Lord Kennedy died in 1450 and the third Lord Kennedy and the first Earl of Cassilis (pronounce Cassels) was kileed at Flodden in 1513.

The direct line died out on the death of the eighth Earl in 1763. The earldom of Cassilis, together with 70,000 acres of some of the best land in Scotland was then inherited by Sir Thomas Kennedy of Culzean (pronounced Culayne), the direct decendant of Sir Thomas Kennedy of Culzean known as the Tutor of Cassilis, brother of Gilbert the third Earl. On becoming the ninth Earl he commenced to rebuild Culzean and died in 1775. He was suceeded by his brother David who became the 10th Earl and finished the present Culzean Castle. When he died in 1792 (unmarried) the title went to the descendant of a young son of Sir Thomas Kennedy, Tutoe of Cassilis. The 12th Earl was created Marquis of Ailsa.

Sarah was the great niece of Thomas and David the ninth and tenth Earls of Cassilis. She left no written records of her decent and the only records seen by W.D.Donkin is in an old diary be one of her sons (Alexander Busby) which makes he believe made all direct decendants on the distaff side of Sir Thomas Kennedy, Tutor of Cassilis, who was murdered by the Mures of Auchendrane in 1602.
