Jeet Kune Do, was a concept developed by Bruce Lee, to evolve an individual from a particular "style" of martial arts. The JKD concepts iniates the criteria that an individual should maximise their particular style to the point were they evolve beyond that style. This means that the individual does not have to think of the situation rather it is quickly analysed, and efficiently, and most importantly, with minimal effort, be eradicated. Thus the individuals thought process becomes "punch when you have to punch, kick when you have to kick".

Bruce Lee, uses the analogy of water for JKD concepts for the analogy holds very much the basis and belief of JKD. Bruce Lee stated "be formless like water...you put water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put water in a cup, it becomes a cup..now water can flow or it can crash, be formless l ike water".

The concepts of JKD is applied to a "style" of martial art, thus enabling the individual to go beyond the style. And what I mean by this, is that when an individual studies under a particular style, the individuals full expressions are inhibited and hindered by the style due to its "classical" and very much mechanical, disciplinary movements. Thus by applying the JKD concepts the individual will possess the ability to omit any particular aspect of the style which they feel, hinders their full capacity to express oneself. And by ommiting those aspects which they feel are unnecessary, the individuals movements will be more free, and they will possess the knowledge to further redefine their style to adapt their needs.

Thus the martial art no longer becomes a "style" rather it becomes part of the individual themselves. The "style" becomes in its true pureness, an art expressed by the individual. This concept is the foundation of JKD, to go beyond the teachings of the "style", letting the art become embodied on the individuals life, further developing until the closure of life.

"USING NO LIMITATIONS AS LIMITATIONS, HAVING NO WAY AS WAY"

Always remember that with martial arts, "it is like a finger pointing away to the moon, don't concentrate on the finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory"
