Beeper Sync Cable

Hristo Pavlov’s program “BeeperSync” needs a special cable to connect the Beeper Box to the LPT or Parallel port of the PC. I have made some cables and offer them to observers who may be unable to make up the cable as specified. I’m offering the cables I have made FREE OF CHARGE provided you qualify and can meet the shipping requirements as specified below.

You qualify if…

  • You own a Beeper Box
  • You own or have access to a PC, running Win98 or better
  • The PC has a LPT/Parallel Port.
  • You have downloaded AND installed Beeper Sync on the PC and the only thing missing is the cable.
  • You do NOT have the tools and soldering iron to make your own cable

You do NOT qualify for a free cable if...

  • You have the tools and know how to make a cable but can’t be bothered. Get off your clacker you lazy so-and-so!!!
  • You have MAC or Linux computer. Sorry it’s not my fault!!!
  • Your computer does not have a LPT/Parallel Port. Sorry it’s not my fault!!!

Price… As I said, the price of the cable is AU$0 (free) but I’m going make you work for it. The price remains free IF within 6 months of receiving your cable you either…

  • observe and report 6 total lunar occultations
  • take part in a lunar graze expedition, observing at least two events
  • attempt 3 minor planet occultations, reporting an “observed miss”
  • report one positive minor planet occultation.

Failure to do any one of the above tasks (and don’t worry, I’ll be monitoring the Occultation Section Circular) within 6 months, the receiver will incur an invoice to the value of the maker’s (Me) weight in Gold… :-) Or $20.00 whichever is the lesser. Yes, it’s a little steep but that’s my terms!
Hint… do the observations, it’s much cheaper!

    Manufacturing and Quality Control.
The cable is manufactured from the best materials available (from Jaycar) and assembled using ISO O4A0Tee approved techniques in our cable (and telescope) assembly facility (equipped with a soldering iron, hand tools and other hitech stuff).

Each cable is tested using the state of the art equipment (battery and LED wired to a female connector) to ensure the cable works and you get what you pay for.
