Shetlands

The Shetland side of the stud was established in 1979 with the purchase of our

foundation stallion MEADARA MAYBE, a 9.0hh Golden Dun better known as ‘Shannon’, and the later purchase of KOOLANGATHA CURRANT, a 9.2hh black by the imported stallion Wells Vintage.

Koolangatha Currant only produced four fillies whereas Shannon was a prolific filly and colour producer, hence many of our current broodmares are by him. We are at present using two of Shannon’s sons, BROSHA TRISTRAM & BROSHA PARRISH, and a grandson, BROSHA RENEGADE, in our breeding program. In an effort to produce a set type and colour we have incorporated a line breeding program which seems to be working quite well.

Shannon was noted for his exceptionally quiet temperament and fortunately this is the one trait all his foals seem to have inherited.

We recently purchased FENWICK MIRACLE an 8.2hh Grulla. Miracle is a proven sire of small Duns & we look forward to seeing how he crosses with our Dun mares.

All our stock is APSB registered, with the Duns also registered with the National Buckskin Society. Some of the smaller ponies are also registered AMPS.
