ozEkoala: what?????
Friend: yea,

Friend: yours would be good
ozEkoala: nice of you to say so... but can't quite imagine it somehow
Friend: i'm thinking of something but can't put my finger on it
Friend: but I know your writing talent, and use of words, and just the
way you make the reader feel, is something people would enjoy

ozEkoala: what did Dad say to you about Darwin?
Friend2: He just said you had been
ozEkoala: that was 15 years ago
ozEkoala: !!!
Friend2: I have never been there - most of the travelling
I can do is done on the Internet
ozEkoala: would you like me to send you my email 'newsletter'?
not really a newsletter - just a fun thing I write sometimes
ozEkoala: it is about Northern territory at the moment
Friend2: Bev YES I like to hear about all the places I cannot go
ozEkoala: ok! well that must be a lot of places I suppose!!
ozEkoala: big world...
And another....
|

ozEkoala:
Yes! - I have written some fun stories about Australia recently
Friend3: Great, are you going to publish them?
ozEkoala: ?? only let friends read them
ozEkoala: they are very amateurish but fun
ozEkoala: quite short
ozEkoala: it is like a series
ozEkoala: only written 2 so far
Friend3: Well you never know. Maybe you can mail me some of them to
read.
ozEkoala: i can if you like
ozEkoala: you cant see pictures though can you?
Friend3: What subject are they about. sure I would like to read
them
ozEkoala: I have started by talking about Darwin in the Northern
Territory
ozEkoala: and then going down toward Alice Springs and Ayers Rock
Friend3: Yes I can receive certain pictures,
I dont know why I cannot download others.
Friend3: The only story I have read about Australia was a novel called
'A town like Alice'

I loved your
newsletter. Bev, anything you do is alright by me.
You are my friend. But, be aware (and wary), for you may receive something
similar from me one day. Is that a deal then? |
 |
|
 |
That was great
reading.
I want to know why you got stuck there too.
So don't make us go crazy waiting for the next instalment.
Have you ever been to Tasmania? I've heard many stories about the Tasmanian Devil.
I didn't know Australia was bombed by the Japanese during WW 2.
Very interesting Bev. thanks. No, couldn't get the pictures.
It is very different on WEB t.v. |
 |
|
 |
Hi Bev,
I received and read your stories of your trip. It was a lot of fun.
I've watched so many TV shows on Australia, that I could actually
picture what you were describing quite well. In spite of the fact that I
could not receive the photos. which was a disappointment.
Still, I'm anxious to see part three. Please tell us more about the
aborigines. I would like to know more about them.
It was just like Educational television or National Geographic.
I enjoyed the story of finding out you're in the water with
crocodiles while you were readying to swim back across the river.
I would have swum faster than the speed of light I assure you! |

Well, this
Yankeeland friend will be anxiously awaiting the next instalment
of Darwin-let me outta here!! I felt as if I was reading a best selling novel,
and after only half way down the first page was already finding myself
engrossed and knew this was one I wasn't going to be able to put down!!
You've got a gift girl. Praise God!! Do save all of these. When your done,
and you have several I wonder what kind of book these compiled letters might become?
Oh, what I would give to write like you. Anyway, I found your first instalment quite
informative, and much much better than reading out of an atlas. Keep it up. but write me a
personal and let me know how your doing.
and quit apologizing |
 |
|
 |
I've been
thinking a lot about the fact that I'm falling miserably behind on my e-mails to you.
I haven't written you back yet because I just didn't want to rush it and there's always
something going on around here, so I waited for a quiet morning when I'd be alone with my
thoughts. I loved your letter - you just have a way of writing that made me feel
like I've known you for years.
I thought I could just keep reading. I especially loved the way you described your
homeland, it sounds wonderful! I really think God led me to your profile, and
led me to first write.
keep writing whatever you do, I do so love your Emails - always check my mail hoping to
see one from you |
 |
|
 |
How are the
Aussie emails going? I speak for myself here - I like them. Think they are great. Keep up
the good work. It is very interesting. |
 |
|
 |
Received your
email the other day, thank you. I am really beginning to like your trip. I do appreciate
the effort you are putting in to it. So much so that I find myself wanting to do the same
thing for you. I am fairly positive that you have no, or only a very limited, knowledge of
the place that I live. Well, we will see - maybe someday. I can hope.
I did go and get several thousand postcards for you the other day. That of course is an
exaggeration. Hope that you like them they are just a few of the places that I have been.
I will start sending them later this week, hope that they all get to you intact. |
 |
|
 |
i loved it!! i
can't wait for the next post. :) i saved it to my writings file so i can pull it up and
read over and over. i love to read writings that have that personal touch. it brings in
that touch of reality and truthfulness that people search for in every great story. you
should start to write. it could be what God has in store for you. you obviously have that
creative gift. you've just never had that chance to let it run free. someone once said to
me that everyone has creativity, but not everyone has the freedom to release it. maybe now
that your house bound, you have that freedom that others can only read about. it is a
great talent don't let anyone or anything stop you. just think bev, you've brought
together so many people. i would have never have met them, if it hadn't have been for you.
you are our key into a world that we've never seen, but can live in through you. i hope
that i can give you that same insight into my world. after all how many times do you get
to talk to a redneck? :) |
 |
|
 |
man, you've been
busy! how do you get to come on line so much? |
 |
|
 |
i guess your
busy. are you writing the next adventure? :) can't wait. |
 |
|
 |
Dear Bev,
I just printed out your article on Darwin. You really are a very good writer!
I am enjoying reading it so very much! I want to reread it and then send you something
similar about Texas and Louisiana--though it will not be in such a sophisticated format!
I don't know how to incorporate pictures and such yet, but I guess I will learn
eventually! |
 |
|
 |
Hi, Bev. How are
you doing? I just finished reading your latest ozEkoala article, and I love it. |
 |
|
 |
Hi, Bev. Are you
still on AOL? If not, please let me know your new address! Haven't heard from you in
a while! Enjoyed very much your latest instalment of your trip north to Darwin. You have a
great sense of humor--and a nice eye for detail. Hope to hear from you soon. |
 |
|
 |
Hi, Bev! Loved
your latest travelogue! Now I can say I have met someone who has been to Alice
Springs and climbed Ayers Rock |
 |
|
 |
Bev.
Keep going can't get enough, and hurry up, the waiting is terrible! |
 |
|
 |
I just read my
new Ossie Koala mail. It was real good. I was wishing it was longer. will be waiting
anxiously for the next edition. |

requesting
Translation: Avagoodweekendyamug.
I'm thinking something like have a good weekend...
but the last bit I'm still not sure of. well, you offered!! |
 |
|
 |
well, I finally
sat down and drank in the newest edition of Out in the middle of nowhere. Which I think
was some of your best work yet. again I say Bev. you've definitely got a gift! I
very much am enjoying the trek through the Australian country, but more than that I'm
enjoying your great style of telling that story. Looking forward to the next instalment. |
 |
|
 |
I think everyone
probably likes them, just don't take the time to let you know. And yes, I think I would
like some kind of recognition when your book comes out. Maybe I could do the
illustrations. I do stick people quite well!! |
 |
|
 |
Bev,
If you get anymore AOL screen names I will give up. I almost deleted the thing till I
remembered who Ossie was. At first I could not figure who Ossiemail was (but then I was
not too wide awake). Then I remembered who Ossie was, and fun, fun, fun. Your letters are
more fun than the books I have read were. Keep them coming.
But do not write when you are not feeling well. Remember that I will understand cause I
too have bad days |
 |
|
 |
I got your
latest in the series on Australia and must admit that it was refreshing.
Much of what you wrote I was taught in high school in Jamaica. But it was wonderful. I am
eagerly awaiting the next instalment. It seems as if northern Australia is relatively
undeveloped, in comparison to the rest of the country. Why is that? Is it because you guys
can't take the heat? |
 |
|
 |
I notice that
you have superimposed an outline of Australia on that the map of the US, are you
trying to measure up? Haa Ha. That would be a long shot. Keep on trying. |
 |
|
 |
By the way I
love your series on Australia. But it should not supplant our personal one-on-one
relationship. I miss our IM sessions. And your long e-mails to me. Not the
generic ones, although I do find those interesting. |
 |
|
 |
Good morning Bev
Just read and made a copy of your e-mail and the only thing I can say is -
More MORE MORE MORE and MORE.
It is wonderful and although I am hurrying for work I enjoyed it thoroughly. Will write
more later. Thanks SO MUCH. |
 |
|
 |
Hi Bev
Just got home from work and couldn't wait to check e-mail. Your stories are delightful and
I am thoroughly enjoying them. I am printing them and I plan to share with a friend of
mine. I have not completed reading today's episode but I plan to make some coffee
and just sit and enjoy.
You have no idea and cannot know just how much I appreciate your efforts and I certainly
hope that others will appreciate as much as I do. You have a devoted audience of at least
one and I am sure others will receive this in the same manner.
Thank you Bev, thank you so much. |
 |
|
 |
Dear Bev:
Received the latest in the episodes this morning and am more and more delighted. You
really have a wonderful talent for writing. Your story is informative, humorous, colorful,
suspenseful. I find myself chilled at the thought of those bats - although I have had a
similar experience in the bat cave in New Mexico; terrified at the idea of swimming in a
place with crocodiles, even newborn ones, perhaps swimming in general since I don't know
how (I am pretty good at floating though). I am not certain I am awfully fond of termites
either come to think of it but with all this you have not dulled my interest in Australia
one iota.
Since I have the day off I plan to get my atlas and follow your intriguing journey. So far
I have read the pages 3 times and each time just saying thank you and telling you I
appreciate it just not seem enough to express my gratitude. I know others must feel the
same. But I wonder what can I do for you to show you how much this means to me?
I intend to be a patient (though eager) reader and not trouble you with questions until
the end of your tale. I have jotted down a few which may or may not be answered as you
story enfolds and then I can ask them one by one. I am sure Grant must also revel in the
telling of your experiences. I think you have made this alive for all of us. I am looking
forward to the next episode.
Avagoodweekendtoutoyamug (translation not needed I think).
See you on the road to Alice very soon. |
 |
|
 |
Hi Bev
I am patient but also anxious for the next chapter. You are certainly the most imaginative
and delightfully creative person I know. My friend says she is also anxious but she said
she will wait to read the entire manuscript at once because she has no patience. You may
not realize it but you have embarked on a wholly new career. I for one of many I am sure
am very happy to know you.
Until your next. |
 |
|
 |
Dear Bev:
I came home tonight with very itchy fingers and so very eager to get back to the
tantalizing tribulations of Bev Maxwell on her escapades through the wilds of Australia. I
must say you are becoming quite famous in a way because of your story. I have several
people very much interested in this journey now and they will share in the chapters, one
by one, and will enjoy them no less than I do. As I read on there is always a smile on my
face and joy in my heart and I think I am travelling every inch of the way with you.
I do have my atlas but it in no way gives me the color and excitement that your words do.
I am sweating in the desert with you, and thirsting for the next watering hole as you must
have been.
The Devils Marbles are reminiscent of a place in New Mexico where the winds have carved
interesting and massive figures that are like silent sentinels as one crosses the Indians
Reservations and have therefore earned names like ShipRock and Camelback. |
 |
|
 |
Hi Beverley,
Thank you for sharing Australia with me. I have really enjoyed it. |
 |
|
 |
I appreciate
that you send these travel stories and take my imagination for a ride!
Do take care, though....we have gators here, too! |
 |
|
 |
Received your
'travelogue" Its a great idea and I enjoyed reading it, knowing the effort it
takes. You will find the creative you! Remember the saying, "Seek and you will
find" |
 |
|
 |
Thank you so
much, I am really enjoying your Darwin travel series, makes me want to leave home and go
to Kakadu National Park. I am a bird lover, so it sounds like my kind of place... I
am always telling people to go while they can, don't put off living, you may not get a
chance later. Australia, South Africa and Austria were my dream spots to visit but I put
off travelling other than in my own country, now I am so sorry. All the more reason to
enjoy it through your eyes. thankyou, |
 |
|
 |
Its amazing that
we are half the way around the world from each other and can communicate in just a split
second. I just got your e-mail on Australia. I can now get all your pictures almost
instantly. They are beautiful. I suggest you write a book. There is not a good book on
Australia that I have seen. You will have one customer in me for sure. I want it in my
library. Americans most vividly remember two films about Australia. One is Crocodile
Dundee and the other is: Quiggly down under. A mention of this in your preface will be a
draw for the attention of the American audiences here. |

I read each
new issue

anticipation |

Hiya, you little

Just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying your stories of down under. Pray that I

vacation - so you can be our tour guide! (just kidding, wouldn't want you putting your
soul in jeopardy by praying for us to win the lotto!!)
Anyways, I'm really enjoying your humorous and informative tales! God bless and hope
to "see" you online soon - even if it may be a while before I make it down there
in the flesh. |

ozEkoala:
did i tell you what i was doing last night?
Friend4: No, what?
OzEkoala: making a web site!
Friend4: Coolness! Are you done?
OzEkoala: my mind was working really well - havent been able to do
anything for ages

Friend4: what's your address??? I want to see it!

ozEkoala: yes - I just put them up and tidied it up - had fun - some
people I sent it to didnt get pictures in email
Friend4: I got the pictures both places! It's so great. I love
your graphics and background. |
 |
Friend4:
Australia is a very interesting country to us "Yanks". I guess because
you're just about as far away from here as one can get, but you can still speak the same
language. That, and you're the only place in the world that has koala bears.
ozEkoala: @(*O*)@
Friend4: I enjoy talking to you any time. I love your koala face decoration.
ozEkoalal: isnt it cute
Friend4: I think this new server is going to be ok. There IS life after AOL.
Okie dokie kiddo. I'll talk to you later. |
 |
|
 |
ozEkoala: I have
just put up a site for Ossiemail
Friend5: Bev you mean in an article for public reading or what?
ozEkoala: a website
Friend5: Great! this is going to help relations between our countries cause few
people here know any thing about the Continent down under - Congratulations
ozEkoala: it is just a small fun thing but its a start!
Friend5: From small acorns grow large oak trees
ozEkoala: wonder what grows from gumnuts - thats a joke about koalas
eating from gum trees... pretty weak joke! |
