ozEkoala
gets inspired
Isn't it
often the way, when you set out to teach others you end up learning more yourself?
What started as an exercise in 'ambassadory' has developed into a voyage of discovery for
me about some aspects of Australian life that I knew embarrassingly little about.
Idle curiosity led me at first, but a growing fascination has driven me on to discover
more about this so called 'northern territory'. You may recall that I was regretting my
lack of attention to social studies lessons in an earlier email, and couldn't tell you why
NT wasn't considered a fully-fledged state.
I have done some background work for the next in the email series, which is different to
the first few - they just tumbled out of my mind like puppies from a basket. This one
reminds me more of a sleepy old dog contemplating whether to chase the cat he has just
spotted through a half open eye - a bit more thought has gone into it. Whether the end
product is the same remains to be seen, but my guess is that it will be quite similar.
Actually the old dog analogy is probably quite apt - once I get started writing it
will all be very quick - my mind is just working itself up to it a bit slower this time.
In the meantime I have been doing some reading which has served to refresh my memories,
which I admit were getting a bit patchy after 14 years. I found some nice uncopyrighted
pictures of Ayers Rock to use, too.
My latest idea, since linking from the email to the page with crocodiles waiting to catch
ozEkoala falling out of a tree, is to do the story in the form of a web page, which makes
it easier to view pictures... I'll see how I go with that... |
