"Where did "Gunnamatta Emily" go?"Finally, the lucky ticket for our H-BM 2000 Raffle was drawn at the Fiesta on Sunday 28th May - and the winner was............not Syd-en-ie........but Beaufort, Victoria. Young alpaca breeder, Shane Carey, 19, was the lucky lad. Shane is recorded as one of the youngest alpaca owning members of the AAA. He owns Malakai Alpacas, a herd of over 20 alpacas, which he manages as well as working in the family hardware business. Emily, a young female ready to breed, will be an unexpected but welcome asset to his herd, I'm sure! (He has in the past used stud males within our region - so one might say he has a "connection" or two!) Shane purchased only two tickets by mail order through the Fiesta catalogue - which goes to prove that any person Australiawide (alpaca breeder or just with a fledgling interest) has the opportunity to pull off the jackpot in our annual alpaca fiesta raffle. Needless to say, Shane hotfooted it up to collect his prize - good luck to Emily in her new home. We hope that Shane keeps us up to date on her progress.
