Because we have a large number of
animals, this list is constantly under review.

Established in 1993, Gunnamatta Stud has developed
into one of the premier alpaca breeders within the Hawkesbury-Blue Mountains region
of the Australian Alpaca Association.
The principle business is situated at Galston, just 30
minutes from the Sydney CBD. Here we maintain our stud males and potential show
animals. The property has been custom designed for ease of management and
provides an excellent example of how to manage alpaca on small acreage.
Visitors are always welcome, by appointment.
A few years ago we expanded our operations. We now have
an additional facility of some 400 acres. Located mid-way between Lithgow and
Mudgee at Running Stream, "Oakleigh" provides us with the capacity to maintain
increased numbers of alpaca as well as the possibility of diversifying into
crop production. Development of the facility is still in its embryonic stage,
but once we are established, visitors would be most welcome, by appointment.
By use of selective breeding, we at Gunnamatta Stud Alpacas
are dedicated to the development of superior quality animals which exhibit the
desirable characteristics of fleece density, crimp, lustre & fineness. Our goal
is to improve these qualities in each generation without the loss of strong and
sound conformation.

As relatively "small" breeders (we maintain a herd of about
130 alpaca at any one time), we understand
the needs and desires of new entrants to this exciting industry. We have a good rapport with our customers and pride ourselves
on our ability to build lasting relationships with our clients.
Gunnamatta Stud Alpacas is managed by Sue Maynard, with
assistance from John Hay. The stud is an active member of the
Hawkesbury-Blue Mountains region of the Australian Alpaca Association. Sue is
currently the Secretary of the region and, in addition, we are responsible for editing the region's
newsletter "Spits & Pieces"
All females, young males and stud males (with the
exception of Ambersun Gallipoli) are covered under the
National Johne's Program MN3
(NA080047) & Q-Alpaca (05/0110). Buyers can therefore be assured that their purchases will be
free of this potentially devastating disease.
All females and stud quality males come with a guarantee of
fertility.
