Established in 1993, Gunnamatta Stud has developed
into one of the premier alpaca breeders within the Hawkesbury-Blue Mountains region
of the Australian Alpaca Association.
The principle business is situated at Galston, just 30
minutes from the Sydney CBD. Here we maintain our expectant mums, mums with new
cria, a few stud males and potential show
animals. The property has been custom designed for ease of management and
provides an excellent example of how to manage alpaca on small acreage.
Visitors are always welcome, by appointment.
In 2002 we expanded our operations and now have an
additional facility of some 400 acres. Located mid-way between Lithgow and
Mudgee at Running Stream, "Oakleigh" provides us with the capacity to maintain
increased numbers of alpaca as well as the possibility of diversifying into crop
production.
By use of selective breeding, we at Gunnamatta Stud Alpacas
are dedicated to the development of superior quality animals which exhibit the
desirable characteristics of fleece density, crimp, lustre & fineness. Our goal
is to improve these qualities in each generation without the loss of strong and
sound conformation.

As relatively "small" breeders (we maintain a herd of about
90 alpaca at any one time), we understand
the needs and desires of new entrants to this exciting industry. We have a good rapport with our customers and pride ourselves
on our ability to build lasting relationships with our clients.
Gunnamatta Stud Alpacas is managed by Sue Maynard, with
assistance from John Hay. The stud is an active member of the Hawkesbury-Blue
Mountains region of the Australian Alpaca Association and Sue is currently the
region's Secretary.
At Gunnamatta we have a range of pregnant females, female weanlings
and yearlings for sale, as well as young males and wethers. Colours include solid white, fawn and grey.
In addition, we have a number of older females who would be ideal as
recipients in ET programs. All are proven good mothers.
For a current listing, please contact us.
All females, young males and stud males are covered under Q-Alpaca (05/0110).
All females and stud quality males come with a guarantee of
fertility.
