About the club

The aims of the Canberra/Queanbeyan Poultry Club are to promote and foster the keeping, breeding and showing of pure breeds of poultry. We believe it is important to keep intact, the breeds of poultry found in Australia. We encourage those seeking to keep poultry in the district to consider selecting one of the many beautiful pure breeds available, rather than choosing to keep hybrid strains. In this way, the wonderful (and often rare) breeds of Australian poultry may be retained for future generations to enjoy.

The Canberra/Queanbeyan Poultry Club Inc. holds meetings on the fourth Tuesday of each month in the new poultry pavilion at Queanbeyan Showground, Glebe Avenue, Queanbeyan. Meetings generally start at 8.00pm. Office bearers are elected at the Annual General Meeting each February.

The Club holds two shows in its own right each year, these being a Young Bird Show in April and an Annual & Rare Breed Show in August. We are also heavily involved in the running of the Queanbeyan Agricultural Society Show, at Queanbeyan Showground each November.
