PATTERNS

We are now stocking a new range of patterns featuring an animal series, a flower series, as well as a modern series. The patterns use Raw Edge Appliqué technique, and feature gorgeous Balis, to create beautiful images. We have sold out of a couple of the animal series, but are expecting new supplies of both the patterns and kits in the next couple of weeks.

We have made up a sample of the Tiger (Amur) made up, and it looks gorgeous

AMY BUTLER "LOVE"

Amy Butler's latest fabric range called "Love" has arrived in store. Featuring over-the-top  prints and color to make a luscious collection of 26 quilting fabrics . She has married rich, soulful, organic florals and architectural prints inspired by recent trips to Indonesia and England. Rich tropical colors with ethnic imprints, and elegance found in over the top florals like full roses and exploding peony blossoms join together in an optimistic celebration of print and color.

The fabrics are priced at $25.00 per metre.

SAFETY SHIELD

We now have stock of the new Safety Shields, for use on cutting rulers. We have all heard of incidents where rotary cutters have seriously cut, or even severed fingers while cutting fabrics using the cutters. These safety shields attach to the rulers, and as well as protecting your fingers, make the rulers more rigid, to assist in accurate cutting. A must for classes to comply with Occupation Health and Safety.

Gai is more excited about the products that we have identified as ones we would like to market, so much so that she has been burning the midnight oil, preparing a sample, ready to complete at the Brisbane Show. We will be stocking "McKenna Ryan" and "Bigfoot Bay Cotton" patterns, both of which use  the raw edge appliqué technique, to obtain some beautiful  quilts. We will have a few "Bigfoot Bay Cotton" patterns and kits available at the Brisbane Show, so drop in early before we are sold out. I hope to be able to put pictures onto the website as soon as we arrive back in Australia.

We have also bringing back a few new Notions, including a Rotary Blade cutter that really works, as well as some teflon mats to use in the Raw applique patterns.

The next event on the calendar is the "Brisbane Quilt and Craft Fair", which commences on the 21st October, and continues until Sunday 25th October, 2009. Before that, however Gai and I will be heading across to Houston to look at all the latest ideas and products in the Quilting world. It is always great to look at what is happening in the US, and hopefully come back with some new ideas to bring to our shop, and incorporating into the upcoming shows. 

Take a look at the latest Beatrix Potter baby quilt, "Bunny Hug", which uses the Beatrix Potter Baby Roll, as well as the blocks panel, and the Garden Tales Border fabrics.

Anyone wishing make up any Baby Quilts using Beatrix Potter fabrics, should look at obtaining the fabrics now, as it looks like they will no longer be licensed for export to Australia. We still have most of the fabrics, but only in small quantities.

We have stock at the moment of the "Jelly Roll Books" and also "Layer Cakes, Jelly Rolls and Charm Quilts" in the shop, and also we have good supplies for the "Brisbane Quilt and Craft Fair".  Gai will be doing two workshops at the Show, where she will be  talking about "Jelly Rolls, Layer cakes and Charm Squares" as well as second workshop on Bali Pops.

With the latest shipment of tables arriving at the start of the month, all the orders have been sent out, and we will have plenty of tables for the upcoming Brisbane Show. By preordering your table, you will be able to pick up the table at the show, saving the delivery cost ($25.00 to $30.00). Because the table fits so many machines, it is best to let us know the make and model of your machine, so we will have the correct template with us.

The new caddy has proved extremley popular, and is a great add on to the table. It attaches to the table, and holds all those "nick nacks" while you are sewing. It folds away between the table and hanger, when the table is packed away. The caddy can be fitted to existing tables, and is priced at $45.00 (plus p&h)

NEW ARRIVALS

Bali Pops

The new range of Bali Pops are now in stock, and we still have good stocks of the original "Bali Pop" range.

The Bali Pops each contain 40 different Hoffman balis, cut into 2½" strips. They are used for a number of different projects in "Strip Therapy", Strip Therapy 2" and "Strip Therapy 3", the latest books from Brenda Hemming. The fourth book in the series is at the printers at the moment, and so we should be able to bring some back with us from Houston for the Brisbane Show.

We have the full range of the Strip Therapy and books in the shop, and we will be taking them to the Brisbane Quilt and Craft Fair. 

"Strip Therapy" was such a success for Brenda, she has quickly followed it up with two other books with new interesting projects.

JELLY ROLL QUILTS

The "Jelly Roll Book"  is still selling well, and we now have the second book called" Layer Cake, Jelly Roll and Charm Quilts" which has some great patterns for quilts, incorporating Layer cakes and Charm Squares with the Jelly Rolls.

Our new Templates for the Jelly Rolls allow different shapes to be cut from the 2½" strips without wasting  any fabric. The Jelly Star template is for half square triangles, the Jelly Star is used for the "Hidden Stars" quilt, and the "Jelly Braid" is for the Braided Quilt in the "Strip Therapy" book

Geisha Panel

We now have stocks of the new Empress Mari Geisha Girl panels, and we have been able to do up kits in the colour way shown. 

We still have a few of the Geisha Girl, Graceful Geisha and Tea Ceremony panels, however the kits have sold out.

Sashiko Panels

Our agent has found a bolt of the navy Sashiko panel, so we will briefly have stock of those as well as a few Cream panel. The new panel has arrived, and sold well at the Brisbane and Adelaide Show. Gai is working on some of the blocks, and has completed a few of them, and hopes to have them in a wallhanging later in the year. The panel is the same size as the original panels, and comes in three different colour ways, black, navy and red.

The Sashiko needles are priced at $7.00 a packet, with the threads $7.00 each for the 50 metre rolls (the panels require the three rolls to complete)

X Block Tools

Use these tools to create fabulous borders as you cut your X Blocks. You can make spectacular quilts that look complex but are unbelievably quick and easy. By mixing and matching fabrics, dozens of different designs are possible.

The X Blocks come in the four different sizes 3.5", 4", 6.5" and 7.5"

A number of quilts have been especially designed around the X Block tools, and we have lots of different patterns available.

We have just receives supplies of the new X Block books with lots of great ideas for using the X Blocks

Panels

In stock are the  "Pigling Bland", "Tom Kitten" and "Paddington Bear" cot panels. Just add wadding and backing and some outline quilting, finishing off with a binding, and you have a beautiful cot quilt for that favourite baby.

There are a number of panels which make up into cloth books, which are great projects for babies. We have "Three Little Kittens" and the Beatrix Potter "Alphabet" panels, as well three "Paddington Bear" book panels. 

SewEzi

New supplies of the SewEzi tables are in stock, and are priced at $319.00, with information and an order form available on the SewEzi web site, www.sewezi.com (click on the Australian flag). 

The SewEzi tables are also great gifts, for those requiring a portable sewing table, that folds up, and can be wheeled along when transporting the table. It also comes with its own bag, and a free template to fit your machine. The tables are priced at $319.00 ($25.00-$35.00 delivery fee depending on region)

Beatrix Potter "Garden Tales"  

Our "Garden Tales" fabrics are holding on well, with new stocks arriving, we are only short of a couple of fabrics. New fabrics are being added to the range shortly, with a cot panel featuring the piglets, as well as some fabrics with piglet images. The Garden Tales range of fabrics are used as the coordinates with the piglet fabrics.

The current fabrics are all priced at $22.00 per metre, but the new stocks will be $24.00 per metre.

We now have kits of "Woodland Tales" in the both the blue and green colour ways, as well as  "Lullaby Garden" quilt. Both quilts feature the popular Beatrix Potter figures from the "Garden Tales" range of fabrics. The kits are suitable for beginner quilters, incorporating some simple piecing, as well as some appliqué.

 We will also have patterns available for "Woodland Tales".

Fabric Sheets

I now have in stock good supplies of "Matilda's Own", Australian Premium Fabric Sheets, used for printing images onto fabric. I am getting great results from them, and they come in a pack of five A4 sheets priced at $21.95. 

On the web site,  there are notes showing  how to print your photos onto fabric, as well as suggesting ways to enhance the photographs. Also available to view, are examples of Memory Quilts we have done, as well as special effects you can achieve with your photographs.
