As the Client As the Designer As the Researcher Communication

Introduction

Our client, "Terrorist", has requested us to implement a website for their Toys community. Thus, our team will be submitting a project proposal of the Toys Community to our client. The community will  be called "Toys House Community". Toys House Community is an online community where people can find information about Toys and also share their experiences with other members.

There are some features which are required by our client for the online community layout, including synchronous/asynchronous communication functions, and a search engine which allows users to find out specific information by typing in a key word. We will also propose additional ideas for our client to consider to add to their online community.

To clarify the project goals and ascertain our objectives regarding the project requirements, we will be e-mailing our client during the analysis and throughout the whole design process. Our team plans to use e-mail as our main means of communication to get feedback regularly.

About the Community

Toys House Community is a public community which is open to all people who are interested to obtain membership to the community.

To become member, the visitor needs to contact  a moderator to obtain a login name and password (the visitor can choose their own login and password if requested) via e-mail. Once they have contacted the moderator and have sent their details, the user will receive their username and password within 24 hours.  They can then log into the website as a  member using their own username and password. If the visitor wishes to just browse or preview the website, they can login  as a ‘guest’ (by typing in 'guest' for both username and password) but they will not have certain privileges such as  posting messages on the forum or buying/selling items.

This website community is user friendly - all pages have easy-to-use  navigation bars - therefore, members will not have to keep returning to the first page to navigate to other pages of the site.

There will be moderators to moderate the forums and chat rooms to ensure netiquette rules are being followed, and the community will also have an FAQs section to answer any queries asked about the site.

Comparison to Other Similar Existing Website Communities

Toys House Community provides better functions, more complete information and also offers synchronous and asynchronous communication so that members can interact and share knowledge with each other.

The first page of the website consists of an introduction of Toys House community, up coming events and login section for members and guests.

News - In this section, members can find  information about new toys which are coming to the store. This area can also present any current offers such as discounts.

The reason for Toys House Community having a news section is to inform members of any new or upcoming events created by other members to share within the community.

Chat Room - This section provides a space which allows members to share their interests, knowledge and comments about toys.

The reason for this  is to provide a wider variety of options for our members. Also, chat rooms can  lead to brand loyalty.

FAQs -Tthis section contains all questions which people are likely to ask.

New members and existing members are expected to have some problems. This section should solve any frequent problems that are likely to occur e.g. problems with passwords, registering etc.

T H C Forum - This forum is available for registered members only. All members are welcome to post anything such as their comments, feedback, opinions, etc

The community provides this facility as members may want to put up a message for all others members to see.

Buy/Sell - This is where item transactions occur.  Members can buy and sell their toys using this facility.

The reason for this is because Toys House community is a business organisation. Furthermore, this section allows sellers to post photos plus details of the item so that buyers can see the product and read more information on the item they wish to purchase.

Links - This is where members are able to compare the product and prices with other similar online toy stores.

The aim is to prove that Toys House Community could provide a lower price compared to others. Meanwhile, it allows members to search for a broader range of toys if they cannot find what they want in Toys House Community.

Photo Gallery - This section shows an example of some of the product offered by Toys House community.

The Photo Gallery is an easy way for members to view what they can purchase at Toys House Community with a larger view of the photo.

Search Engine -This is a general search tool for members to conveniently search for what they are looking for.

Members are able to type the specific word in the search box and the system will produce results that match that particular topic, item or word. Users can then click on the particular topic to further read on the subject.

In conclusion, the website we created  focuses on the needs of the users. This is because we understand that this is the main factor to stay successful  and gain  loyalty from our  members.

GST is included in the prices and is subject to change without notice. The website is expected to be completed and running by 23rd December 2004.

Due to the high costs of implementation and the time consumed, we intend to use the least expensive software but maintain high technical functionality.

Conclusion

This proposed project is expected to take approximately 72 days to implement and estimated cost is around $4,800.00.

We ask that you, the client, will cooperate with us to ensure smooth running of the project and provided that there will be no further additions that will complicate the website, the project should be completed by the proposed date.
