This is a traditional recipe as well from East Java.

Best served with:
Sayur Asem/Vegetable Sour Soup, Sambal Terasi/Belachan chilli sauce and of course with warm steam rice.

Suitable:
For LUNCH, DINNER.

 

EMPAL GORENG
(FRIED BEEF)

Method category: Boiling (Rebus) and Fried (Goreng)

Ingredients/ Bahan:
1 kg Gerello/Top side (Daging lulur)

Spices/Bumbu:
3 tsp Salt (garam)
3 tsp Pepper (merica)
3 tsp Coriander powder (ketumbar)
3 cloves Garlic (bawang putih)
1 tsp Turmeric powder(kunir bubuk)
1 cup Water (air)
1 cup Lite Coconut Cream (Santan encer)
1 tsp Fresh Tamarind (Asem jawa)
1 tsp Palm Sugar (Gula jawa)
       Oil for frying (Minyak goreng)
 

 

Directions/Cara membuat:
English:
1. Ground all the spices.
2. Boil or pressure cook the beef with all the ground spices until soft, and cut into rectangle about 5x6cm.
3. Fry the beef in hot oil until golden brown.
4. Serve with steam rice, vegetable sour soup and sambal terasi.

Indonesian:

1. Haluskan semua bumbu.
2. Rebus daging dan bumbu2 hingga empuk (bisa menggunakan panci presto).
3. Potong2 daging menjadi persegi panjang 5x6 cm. Goreng dalam minyak panas
4. Sajikan dengan nasi putih hangat, sayur asem dan sambal terasi.
