Sarah Anne Hockey was born on 05 October 1872[1] in Windellama, New South Wales, Australia as the fourteenth child of Samuel Hockey and Mary Ann Ryan. She had thirteen siblings, namely: Eneas, Charles, Samuel, John, Mary, George Daniel, Henry Perceval, Eliza Jane, Luke, David, Margaret Ellen, Alfred Enis, and Albert James.

When she was 28, Sarah married James Hockey, son of John Hockey and Mary Perkins, in 1901[2] in Lismore, New South Wales, Australia.

James Hockey and Sarah Anne Hockey had the following children:

1. Alma Mary Hockey was born on 02 May 1903 in Lismore, New South Wales, Australia. She died on 08 July 1985 in Leeton, New South Wales, Australia.

2. Eric Hockey was born on 10 February 1906 in Murwillumbah, New South Wales, Australia. He died on 04 December 1982 in Ballina, New South Wales, Australia.

3. Muriel Hockey was born in 1907 in Murwillumbah, New South Wales, Australia. She died on 07 September 1967 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

James died on 01 July 1953[3] in Murwillumbah, New South Wales, Australia, age 74.

Sarah died on 24 July 1953[4] in Windellama, New South Wales, Australia, age 80.
