Robert Langley was born in 1886[1] in Shoalhaven, New South Wales, Australia as the thirteenth child of Charles Langley and Emma Shergold. He had twelve siblings, namely: Clara Elizabeth, Sarah, Mary Ann, Charles Henry, Emma, Thomas Henry, William, Amy Jane, John Charles, George, Arthur, and Eva.

When he was 29, He married Linda Constance Hanson,daughter of Henry Hanson and Mary Charman Hinton, in 1915[2] in Ashfield, New South Wales, Australia.

Linda died in 1962[3] in Balmain, New South Wales, Australia, age 72.

Robert died in 1969[4] in Newtown, New South Wales, Australia, age 83.
