Michael Anton Diflo was born in 1860[1] in Queensland, Australia as the fourth child of Philipp Andreas Andrew Diflo and Julianna Lohr. He had six siblings, namely: Maria, Joseph, Mary, Anne, Rosa, and John Andrew.

When he was 24, Michael married Ernestine Wilhelmine Gierke, daughter of William Gottfried Gierke and Maria Charlotte Heuer, in 1884[2] in Queensland, Australia.

Michael was employed as a Farmer, Ernestine was listed as Home Duties.
