Mary Horrigan was born in 1847[1] in Maitland, New South Wales, Australia as the fourth child of James Joseph Horrigan and Hanorah Fitz-Gibbons. She had nine siblings, namely: Ellen, Cornelius, Thomas J, Margaret Agnes, Catherine, John, James Edward, Honorah Mary Teresa, and Johanna Marion Josephine.

When she was 21, She married Joseph Edgar Cheesman, son of Thomas Cheesman and Mary Matilda Adams, in 1868[2] in Queensland, Australia.

Joseph was a farmer.

1. Edwin Thomas Cheesman was born in 1869 in Queensland, Australia. He died in 1877 in Queensland, Australia.

2. Mary Norah Cheesman was born in 1873 in Queensland, Australia. She died on 07 June 1957 in Queensland, Australia.

3. Flora Agnes Cheesman was born in 1875 in Queensland, Australia. She married Fred Falconer Ross in 1896 in Queensland, Australia. She died in 1950 in Queensland, Australia.

4. Ethel Ellen Cheesman was born in 1877 in Queensland, Australia. She married Gilbert Boothby in 1903 in Queensland, Australia. She died in 1963 in Queensland, Australia.

5. Edgar Alfred Cheesman was born on 15 November 1879 in Queensland, Australia. He married Margaret Pretoria Harlen on 08 November 1919 in Queensland, Australia. He died on 26 August 1935 in Bangalore, India.

6. Herbert Wilfred Cheesman was born in 1882 in Queensland, Australia. He died on 26 December 1882 in Queensland, Australia.

7. Alwyn Cecil Cheesman was born in 1885 in Queensland, Australia. He married Gladys Ann Harlen in 1915 in Queensland, Australia. He died in 1959 in Queensland, Australia.

8. Murial Constance Cheesman was born in 1891 in Queensland, Australia. She married John William Gibson Bisset in 1912 in Queensland, Australia.

Joseph died in 1923[3] in Queensland, Australia.

Mary died on 27 January 1929[4] in Queensland, Australia, age 82. She was buried on 28 January 1929 in Drayton & Toowoomba Cemetery - CE5-003-0024.
