Mary Ann Langley was born in 1863 in Kangaroo Mount, near Berry, New South Wales as the third child of Charles Langley and Emma Shergold. She had twelve siblings, namely: Clara Elizabeth, Sarah, Charles Henry, Emma, Thomas Henry, William, Amy, John Charles, George, Arthur, Eva, and Robert.

When she was 19, Mary married Charles Hockey, son of Samuel Hockey and Mary Ann Ryan, in 1882 in Kangaroo Mount, near Berry, New South Wales.

Charles Hockey and Mary Ann Langley had the following children:

1. Charles Henry Hill Hockey was born on 10 February 1883 in Shoalhaven, New South Wales, Australia. He married Ethel May Rice in 1908 in Murwillumbah, New South Wales, Australia. He died on 15 January 1925 in Burringbar, New South Wales, Australia.

2. David Daniel Percival Hockey was born in 1885 in Berry, New South Wales, Australia. He married Eva E M Delaney in 1910 in Murwillumbah, New South Wales, Australia. He died on 30 May 1930 in Murwillumbah, New South Wales, Australia.

3. Mary Emma May Hockey was born on 4 March 1887 in Broughton Creek, New South Wales, Australia. She married Alexander Herbert Ross in 1910 in Murwillumbah, New South Wales, Australia. She died in 1961 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

4. Albert Arthur Hockey was born in 1889 in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia. He married Jean Heather Cross on 14 July 1910 in Queensland, Australia. He died on 20 April 1963 in Krambach, New South Wales, Australia.

5. Samuel Spencer Hockey was born on 16 October 1897 in Yalwal, New South Wales, Australia. He married Kathleen Beryl Webster in 1927 in Casino, New South Wales, Australia.  He died on 21 July 1974 in Casino, New South Wales, Australia.

Mary died on 13 Mar 1951 in Casino, New South Wales.
