John Robertson was born in 1831 in Coldingham, Berwickshire, Scotland as the first child of Alexander Robertson and Agnes Purves. He had one sibling, namely: Mary.

When he was 25, He married Margaret Maven,daughter of Thomas Maven and Margaret, in 1856 in Berwickshire, Scotland.

When he was 44, John and family departed Greenock, Scotland on the ship ‘Famenoth’ and arrived in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia on 04 November 1876.

John Robertson and Margaret Maven had the following children:

1. Alexander Robertson was born on 01 July 1857 in Northumberland, England. He died on 31 August 1932 in Queensland.

2. Thomas Robertson was born on 16 May 1859 in Dunbar, East Lothian, Scotland. He died on 04 October 1923 in Bundaberg, Queensland.

3. Margaret Robertson was born on 29 July 1861 in Dunbar, East Lothian, Scotland. She married William Henry Fielder on 23 July 1880 in Brisbane, Queensland. She married Albert Hopf in 1891 in Queensland. She died on 26 April 1909 in Gladstone, Queensland.

4. John Robertson was born in 1863 in Dunbar, East Lothian, Scotland. He died on 21 November 1909 in Bundaberg, Queensland.

5. William Robert Robertson was born on 30 April 1864 in Sunderland, Durham, England. He married Adeline Jane Hopf on 31 January 1891. He died on 30 April 1944 in Bundaberg, Queensland.

6. Adam Robertson was born on 10 June 1869 in Jarrow, Durham, England. He died on 02 April 1946 in Bundaberg, Queensland.

7. Robert Robertson was born on 13 March 1872 in Jarrow,Southshield. He died on 25 September 1937 in Bundaberg, Queensland.

8. Archibald Robertson was born in 1873 in Scotland. He died on 01 November 1941 in Bundaberg, Queensland.

9. Peter Francis Robertson was born in 1875 in England. He died on 01 November 1941 in Bundaberg, Queensland.

10. Daniel Robertson was born on 04 December 1878 in Brisbane, Queensland. He married Alma Jane Helen Keynes in 1928 at the Regestry office, Bundaberg, Queensland. He died on 18 January 1950 in Bundaberg, Queensland.

11. Agnes Robertson was born on 30 July 1882 in Brisbane, Queensland. She died on 23 May 1946 in Bundaberg, Queensland.

John died on 26 Dec 1892[1]  in Eumundi, Queensland.
