Herman Ehlert was born in 1842 as the first child of Frederic Ehlert and Wilhelmina Letta.

Herman sailed from Hamburg as a single male on the ship ‘Humboldt’ on 16 July 1870 and arrvied in Moreton Bay, Queensland on 05 November 1870.

When he was 33, Herman married Augusta Frederica Nachki, daughter of Carl Nachki and Frederica Melke, on 16 October 1875[1] in Queensland.

Herman Ehlert and Augusta Frederica Nachki had the following children:

1. Albert Ehlert was born in 1878 in Queensland, Australia.

2. Teresa Ehlert was born in 1880 in Queensland, Australia. She married Peter Hollis in 1908 in Queensland, Australia. She died in 1951 in Queensland, Australia.

3. George August Ehlert was born in 1881 in Queensland, Australia. He died in 1951 in Queensland, Australia.

4. Alfred Herman Ehlert was born in 1884 in Queensland, Australia. He died in March 1925 in Queensland, Australia.

5. Martha (Wilhelmina) Auguste Ehlert was born in 1886 in Gin Gin, Queensland, Australia. She married William Vock on 24 March 1913 in Queensland, Australia. She died on 21 April 1953 at Royal Brisbane Hospital, Brisbane, Queensland.

Herman died on 05 January 1918[2] in Queensland.
