Hans Maas was born on 16 January 1721 in Kowanz, Pomerania, Germany as the third child of Juergen Maass and Maria Pomerening. He had four siblings, namely: Christian, Juergen, David, and Peter.

Hans was the first Maass to drop an ‘s’ to become Maas.

Hans Maas married Marie Rubow.

Hans Maas and Marie Rubow had the following children:

1. Evae Catharina Maas was born on 06 January 1757 in Heddesheim, Mannheim, Baden, Germany. She married Caspari Erbacher. Evae died on 01 April 1817 in Heddesheim, Mannheim, Baden, Germany.
