Grace Hockey was born on 25 December 1755 in Montacute, Somerset, England as the seventh child of Samuel Hockey and Grace Dyer. She had six siblings, namely: Samuel, William, John, Thomas, James, and Luke.

James Benjamin Bool and Grace Hockey had the following children:

1. Catherine Bool was born in 1767 in Montacute, Somerset, England. Her parents were both 12 years old at the time. Catherine married William Hockey, her first cousin. She died on 20 December 1850 in Yeovil, Somerset, England.
