Donald Ross was born in 1799 in Kincardine Ross-shire as the first child of Angus Ross and Grace.

When he was 27, He married Elizabeth Falconer, daughter of John Falconer and Elizabeth, on 10 June 1826 in Forres, Scotland.

Donald Ross was employed as a Quarrier & Limeworks Manager at Cothall Lime Quarries.

Donald Ross and Elizabeth Falconer had the following children:

1. Elizabeth Ross was born on 14 April 1827 in Forres, Moray, Scotland.

2. William Ross was born in 1829 in Cothall, Elgin, Forres, Scotland. He died in 1893 in Wanganui, Wanganui, Manawatu-Wanganui, New Zealand.

3. Angus Ross was born on 08 April 1829 in Forres, Moray, Scotland. He married Ann Mclennan in Scotland. He died on 25 October 1893 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

4. John Ross was born in 1831 in Forres, Moray, Scotland. He died in 1833 in Forres, Moray, Scotland.

5. Grace Ross was born in 1835 in Forres, Moray, Scotland.

6. Donald Ross was born in 1837 in Cothall, Elgin, Forres, Scotland. He died on 03 January 1896 in Wanganui, Manawatu-Wanganui, New Zealand.

7. George Ross was born in 1841.

8. Alice Aloes Henrietta Ross was born on 22 June 1843 in Forres, Moray, Scotland. She died in 1932 in Elgin, Moray, Scotland.

9. Henry Ross was born in 1845 in Scotland.

Donald died on 12 Aug 1870 in Milne's Wynd, Forres, Scotland.
