CHARLES TORVALD OLSEN

Charles Torvald (Thorwald) Olsen was born in 1872[1] in Queensland, Australia as the first child of Neils Carl Christian Rudolph Olsen and Katrine Hannsen. He had seven siblings, namely: Catherine Amelia, Mary, Louis, Jessie, Charlotte, Elizabeth, and Alfred.

 

Charles was single, and worked for the Bundaberg City Council for more than 30 years.

 

As the City Council motor truck he was travelling in was pulling up near the General Cemetery at midday, Charles jumped off to retrieve his hat and fell beneath the rear wheel. His head was crushed by the truck. He died on 28 May 1937[2]  in Queensland, Australia, age 65.

Fatal Fall Trying To Recover Hat - BUNDABERG Friday - As a City Council motor truck was pulling up near the General Cemetery at midday to-day, Charles Thorvel Olsen, an elderly single man, employed by the council, jumped to the roadway to regain his hat, and fell beneath the rear wheel. Olsen was killed, his head being crashed. He had been In the council's employ for more than 30 years.
