Charles Hockey against John O'Brien. Mr. Betts for plaintiff; Mr. Gannon for defendant.

Charles Hockey sued defendant, an innkeeper, for the sum of £5 18s. 6d. the value of a saddle, bridle, and coat left in defendant's stable. Plaintiff came to defendant's hotel, rode into the yard, and put his bridle and saddle in the stable; when about to leave, two days after, the bridle and saddle could not be found, and Mr. O'Brian lent plaintiff a saddle for a week or two ; this saddle was an inferior one to that lost by plaintiff; plaintiff had not since recovered his saddle, bridle, or coat, and Mr. O'Brien refused to give him any compensation. Defendant said he never saw the saddle or other things, and that plaintiff left them in the stable, but did not give them in charge to any one; he also swore that the saddle and bridle he lent to plaintiff were worth at least £4 10s. Verdict for plaintiff in the amount claimed with costs of court.

BRIEF MENTION - The Don Dorrigo Gazette and Guy Fawkes Advocate (NSW : 1910 - 1954) Wednesday 13 January 1926 p 2 Article

A sow which had a litter of seven pigs on Mr. Charles Hockey's farm, Eurabil, Ellangowan road, last week, included a freak among her progeny. One of the number was born with three legs and two feet - it having no near front leg, and no foot on the near hind leg. The little 'grunter' is quite healthy, but finds difficulty in keeping up with the scramble at meal time, and will probably not reach market as a baconer.
