Catherine Amelia Olsen was born in 1874[1] in Queensland, Australia as the second child of Neils Carl Christian Rudolph Olsen and Katrine Hannsen. She had seven siblings, namely: Charles Torvald (Thorwald), Mary, Louis, Jessie, Charlotte, Elizabeth, and Alfred.

When she was 19, She married Henry Bayfield in 1893[2]  in Queensland, Australia.

Henry Bayfield and Catherine Amelia Olsen had the following children:

1. Ethel Bayfield was born in 1893 in Queensland, Australia. She married Heiro S Stockdale in 1914 in Newtown, New South Wales, Australia. She died in 1944 in Paddington, New South Wales, Australia.

2. Herbert Reginald Bayfield was born in 1896 in Queensland, Australia. He married Emily Agnes Jane McGilvray in 1928 in Queensland, Australia. He died in 1983 in Queensland, Australia.

3. Arthur Henry Bayfield was born on 19 November 1897 in Queensland, Australia. He married Charlotte L Blakey in 1921 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He died on 07 June 1965 in Glebe, New South Wales, Australia.

4. Frederick Charles Bayfield was born in 1900 in Queensland, Australia. He died in 1980 in New South Wales.

Catherine died on 25 August 1902[3] in Queensland, Australia, age 28.
