Ann Shergol was born on 01 February 1778 in Chilmark, Wiltshire, England as the first child of Robert Shergol and Sarah Holley.

When she was 25, Ann married Joseph John Shergold,son of Thomas Shergold and Elizabeth Hiberd, on 02 May 1803 in Wishford, Wiltshire, England. Ann and Joseph were third cousins.

Joseph John Shergold and Ann Shergol had the following children:

1. Elizabeth Shergold was born on 17 October 1790 in Steeple Langford, Wiltshire, England. She died on 08 January 1791 in Steeple Langford, Wiltshire, England.

2. Mary Ann Shergold was born on 26 January 1806 in Stapleford, Wiltshire, England. She died on 01 July 1884 in Sussex, England.

3. George Shergold was born on 13 March 1808 in Stapleford, Wiltshire, England. He died on 31 August 1891 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

4. John Shergold was born on 07 December 1808 in Stapleford, Wiltshire, England. He died in Tasmania, Australia.

5. Joanna Humphres was born in 1814 in London, England.

6. Sarah Shergold was born in 1814 in Stapleford, Wiltshire, England. She died on 27 July 1891 in North Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

7. Thomas Shergold was born on 12 September 1815 in Stapleford, Wiltshire, England. He married Clara Smith on 22 September 1838 in St Andrew's Scots Church, Cumberland County, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He married Harriet Taylor on 23 June 1863 in St John's Church Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. He died on 15 February 1881 in Maitland, New South Wales, Australia.

8. Elizabeth Shergold was born in 1816 in Stapleford, Wiltshire, England. She died in 1856.

9. Emmanuel Shergold was born in 1821 in Stapleford, Wiltshire, England. He died on 13 October 1847 in Stapleford, Wiltshire, England.
