Alfred Enis Hockey was born on 06 September 1868[1] in Windellama, New South Wales, Australia as the twelfth child of Samuel Hockey and Mary Ann Ryan. He had thirteen siblings, namely: Eneas, Charles, Samuel, John, Mary, George Daniel, Henry Perceval, Eliza Jane, Luke, David, Margaret Ellen, Albert James, and Sarah Anne.

When he was 24, He married Elizabeth Hawke, daughter of James Daniel Hawke and Annie Albon, on 12 July 1893[2] in Braidwood, New South Wales, Australia.

Alfred Enis Hockey and Elizabeth Hawke had nine children:

1. Mabel Essy Hockey was born on 10 February 1894 in Corang, New South Wales, Australia. She married Cecil Ubie Hockey in 1917 in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia. Mabel died on 4 September 1967 in New South Wales, Australia.

2. Irene Maude Hockey was born on 13 March 1897 in Braidwood, New South Wales, Australia. She married George Rilen Elvins in 1918 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Irene died on 20 December 1947 in Binda, New South Wales, Australia.

3. Dorothy Eileen Hockey was born in 1899 in Braidwood, New South Wales, Australia. She married Horrace L Muffet in 1922 in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia. Dorothy died on 10 February 1931 in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia.

4. Julia Pearl Hockey was born on 7 April 1901 in Braidwood, New South Wales, Australia. She married Victor Aurum Seymour Erenshaw in 1927 in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia. Julia died in 1971 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

5. Reginald Alfred Hockey was born on 22 February 1905 in Braidwood, New South Wales, Australia. He married Hilda Kennedy in 1935 in Nowra, New South Wales, Australia. Reginald died on 16 August 1980 in Nowra, New South Wales, Australia.

6. Roy Edward Hockey was born on 28 October 1906 in Braidwood, New South Wales, Australia. He married Iris Jean Hockey in 1942 in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia. Roy died on 18 January 1980 in Nowra, New South Wales, Australia.

7. Maurice Milton Hockey was born in 1908 in Braidwood, New South Wales, Australia. He married Vene Elizabeth Hockey in 1936 in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia. Maurice died in 1965 in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia.

8. Hilda Lorry Hockey was born on 01 March 1910 in Braidwood, New South Wales, Australia. She married Henry James Bryant in 1929 in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia. Hilda died on 18 December 1974 in Concord, New South Wales, Australia.

9. Arthur Lewis Hockey was born on 03 March 1914 in Nowra, New South Wales, Australia. He married Camie May Roach in 1950 in Petersham, New South Wales, Australia. Arthur died on 05 February 1968 in Nowra, New South Wales, Australia.

Elizabeth died on 16 January 1943[3] in Nerriga, New South Wales, Australia, age 69.

Alfred died on 22 August 1944[4] in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia, age 75.
