Alexander Robertson was born on 01 July 1857 in Northumberland, England as the first child of John Robertson and Margaret Maven. He had ten siblings, namely: Thomas, Margaret, John, William Robert, Adam, Robert, Archibald, Peter Francis, Daniel, and Agnes.

When he was 20, Alexander married Ann Spence, daughter of James Spence and Ann Johnston, in 1878[1] in Queensland, Australia.

Alexander Robertson and Ann Spence had the following children:

1. Ann Jane Robertson was born on 3 January 1880 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. She married William James Christie in 1900 in Queensland, Australia. She married Charles Canning in 1924 in Queensland, Australia. Ann died on 5 August 1958 in Queensland, Australia.

2. John Robertson was born in 1881 in Queensland, Australia. He died in 1882 in Queensland, Australia.

3. Margaret Farley Robertson was born on 10 January 1883 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. She married Richard McCullough in 1903 in Queensland, Australia. Margaret  died on 21 July 1966 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

4. Agnes Robertson was born in 1885 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. She married John Thomas Bowen in 1912 in Queensland, Australia. Agnes died in 1967 in Queensland, Australia.

5. Albert James Robertson was born in 1888 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. He married Louise Mary Feeney on 21 October 1910 in Queensland, Australia. Albert died on 16 December 1964 in Aspley, Queensland, Australia.

6. Emmiline Robertson was born on 31 January 1890 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. She married Francis Bernard Moore on 09 October 1917 in Queensland, Australia.

7. Gordon Alexander Robertson was born on 15 August 1892 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. He died on 06 March 1894 in Queensland, Australia.

8. Kenneth Alexander Robertson was born on 31 December 1894 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. He married Enis Brown on 18 February 1922 in Queensland, Australia. Kenneth died on 12 October 1952 in Queensland, Australia.

9. John Victor Alexander Robertson was born on 22 July 1897 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. He married Violet May Gilbert on 08 August 1925 in Queensland, Australia. John died on 15 March 1986 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

Ann died on 11 July 1930[2] in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, age 75.

Alexander died on 31 August 1932[3] in Queensland, Australia, age 75.
