


Alexander Herbert Ross was born in 1883[1] in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia as the third child of William Monsoon Ross and Honorah Mary Teresa Horrigan. He had seven siblings, namely: William Hardy, Edmund Angus, Lilian Alice, James Edwin, Bertram Thomas, May Angela, and Ivy Monsoon.
When he was 27, He married Mary Emma May Hockey, daughter of Charles Hockey and Mary Ann Langley, in 1910[2] in Murwillumbah, New South Wales, Australia.
Alexander Herbert Ross and Mary Emma May Hockey had the following children:
1. William Charles Ross was born on 04 November 1911 in Burringbar, New South Wales, Australia. He married Olive Mary Elizabeth Wilson in 1934 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. He died on 02 July 1991 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
2. Alexander Henry Percy Ross was born on 05 March 1914 in Murwillumbah, New South Wales, Australia. He married Phyllis Agnes Lynagh in 1940 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
3. Mary Elsie May Ross was born in 1918. She married John Richard Sampson in 1938 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. She died on 29 August 1994 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
4. Spencer Ross was born on 24 June 1924 in Goondiwindi, Queensland, Australia. He died on 18 August 2000 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
Alexander was a baker and operated a bakery trading as “Alexander Ross and sons,
bakers.” He was fined numerous times for selling bread on a weekly holiday (Sundays).

The Rev. H. Laceby Cecil celebrated two weddings on the Tweed last week. On Wednesday Mr. Percival Hockey, second son of Mr. C. Hockey, was married to Miss Eva Delaney, of Wagga Wagga, and on Thursday Mr. Alexander Ross, of Toowoomba, and Miss Mary May Hockey; eldest daughter of Mr. Chas. Hockey, and sister of Wednesday's bridegroom. Mr. Percy Fryer was best man, and Miss Elsie Hocking was bridesmaid in each instance, and both wedding breakfasts wore served at Cook's Coflee Palace.
