Genealogical Reports
With all this data in the database we can now start to produce output.  In FTM there are several reports that can be generated:
  • Family Group Sheet: good for listing all the members of the one family;
  • Kinship Report: shows the relationship between a nominated person and everyone else in the family tree; great for identifying first from second cousins, and so on;
  • Reports: a variety of reports, e.g. Marriage Report, Parent Report;
  • Genealogy Report: perhaps the most important report, as it appears in a format that assembles many of the known details about the people in the family.  This report type is illustrated below.

    The Genealogy Report can be structured in one of three ways.  Perhaps the most common is the NGS Quarterly (Descendant Ordered).  From the right-hand side of the illustration below you can see the format of the report where a numbering system prefixed with a "+" symbol (in some cases) to show that further details are available for this person.  By going to a bold version of the same number with the "+" we can find the further details.  Let's explain by showing an example.
