Exporting with GEDCOM
GEDCOM is short for Genealogical Data Communications. It is a file transfer process invented by the Family History Department of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) that enables us to export or import genealogical database data.  It is restricted to handling text data only. Any graphics, or other non-text type of data, is simply dropped during the process.
We can use GEDCOM to export a complete database or any part of a database. For the purpose of this course I will demonstrate the export of a branch of the Clemens family tree starting with Nicholas Clemens (1833) at the base of the tree and including all descendants.
