| Scanning 12: OmniPage |
The OCR and Proof processing goes through the process of recognising known text characters from the scanned image of the type-set page. If the OCR finds any character or group of characters that are not in its dictionary then a dialogue window appears as below where "24th" is not known. The suggestion is that we change "24th" to "Bath", which would not be correct so we will click on Ignore or Resume and keep the existing form of "24th". |

| There are several possibilities when deciding what to do about the suspect OCR recognition. We could type "24 th" in the Change to: window and then click on Change; ignore the suspect character(s) which leaves the text as "24th"; we could add the unknown word to the user dictionary which would be recognised on the next scan. For now we will accept "24th". [ Click on Resume in the illustration to continue]. |
