Scanning 11:  OmniPage

For the discussion on OCR we will use a type-set extract from the book "Wangaratta", by D.M. Whittaker,1963, which includes a little on the Hume and Hovell exploration of the Wangaratta district in 1824.  From a family history point of view we will make the connection between the first Europeans to discover the Ovens River and the Oxley Plains, and Jane Smith who, with her father and mother, settled on the Oxley Plains in 1864, just 40 years after the Hume and Hovell expedition.  The OCR document will become a Microsoft Word document which will then be inserted in the Family Tree Maker scrapbook for Jane.
