Activity With CD Indexes
 
Most good public libraries have copies of Indexes to Births, Deaths and Marriages in Victoria on CD ROMs and sometimes many more.   
Exercise:
  • Go to a local library in which you can access one of the CDs listed in the illustration below;
  • Find out how to use the CDs from the librarian and attempt to locate a few records that match your own family history;
  • If successful, print one or more records;
  • Note the database name and the Registration Numbers for your own records (these details should automatically appear on the print-out);
  • Print an order form for a copy of the Registration Certificate, see below.
  • (Optional) Send the order form to the Registry to purchase a certified copy of the record.

Following the successful search for a record we can print an order form.  This form includes all the basic record information that is needed to locate records.  You will need to fill-in your own personal details.
