Edwardian Index 1

We have opened the Edwardian Index, Victoria 1902 - 1913 and searched for the death of Nicholas Clemens.  A first search using Nicholas in the Given Names field produced a 0 result.  However, when we used the wildcard as in Nic* the search produced the following single match. Success!  Nicholas died in 1903 at Harrietville, aged 70 years; Father: Jas (James) Clemens; Mother: Grace Rowe.  Death registration number is 1897.

As you have seen we can construct a reasonably good family record from the CD indexes.  The CDs have produced a basic knowledge of the people in this family unit including the valuable registration numbers for each event.  However indexes cannot provide the many details that we need to fill out a complete family tree.

Indexes point to other data and to obtain further details about people and events we must obtain certificates or documents from the relevant registry, and that is our next step - certificates and documents.   [ Click here to continue ]
