Federation Index. Victoria 1889-1901
To save space we have skipped showing a few simple steps concerned with opening the new database; we have followed the instructions on the screen: selected the next CD in the series, the  Federation Index; inserted this CD, opened the database and entered the search criteria.

By using the same search criteria as used for the Pioneer Index we have found  three further registered births for this Clemens family; a total of 12 children to date.
Notice the spelling for Bridget
on the database: without the wildcard in the search criteria we could have missed "Bridt" and consequently missed finding the births of two children.  This illustrates a very important use of the * wildcard in names. At times we need to guess at all possible abbreviations and then only use the first few characters followed by the asterisk (*).  If we enter the exact true spelling of names we often miss relevant records.  Transcriptions by scribes can take strange forms.

OK, we seem to have completed the list of registered children born to Nicholas and Bridget and we have a record of all registration numbers.  This CD spans the years from 1889 - 1901 and therefore it seems that Bridget stopped having children in 1892.   What happened?    Now we must look for other significant events in this family like, "Did Bridget or Nicholas die?" Or, "Did they move interstate?"  It is possible that Bridget died shortly after the birth of her last child, so this event could be on the same CD.  [ Click on the Query icon  in the illustration to continue ]
