| The Digger search window appears ready for us to insert the search criteria. A small book has been written about using the Digger software, "Delving Into Digger" by Anne Jessel, and we cannot expect to cover all there is to know during this introductory course, however a few points will be made as we go. |
![]() Fig 3.2 Pioneer Index Search Window Let's illustrate a search for the marriage of Nicholas Clemens. We suspect that the marriage occurred between 1836 and 1888. 1. Enter Clemens in the Surname field. 2. Enter Nicholas in the Given Names field 3. Enter M for Marriage in the Event field. Possible entries for Events are: M = Marriage B = Birth D = Death The data is entered by pressing the Enter key. The number of matches for each entry appears in the window to the right of the entry. For example Digger has found 151 Clemens surnames on the database. However, Digger has found only 1 match when considering all three criteria. See the Total Matching Records = 1 at the bottom right of the illustration. There are two ways to look at the results. We will start by looking at the results window by clicking on the Results Record icon. |
