Title:Angel Attack
Eye-catch Title: Angel Attack
Synopsis:The series starts off with a man announcing a state of emergency in
the Tokai Region, as the Angels have returned. Misato is seen racing off
in her car to pick up Shinji Ikari, whose profile can be seen next to her.
Elsewhere, Shinji tries to make a call at a public phone, but a recorded
message on the other end tells him all lines have be disconnected due to
the emergency. As JSSDF (Japanese Strategic Self Defence Force)
helicopters start to appear in the sky above, Shinji begins to think that
maybe he should find a shelter. He takes out Misato's picture and says,
"I guess we won't be meeting here." As he sets off, a huge
explosion shocks him, and he turns to see a strange creature (Angel #3)
fighting the choppers. He watches in awe, but another explosion makes him
duck down just as Misato screeches to a stop next to him and tells him to
get in. Shinji does as he is told, and Misato reverses just in time to
avoid being crushed by a huge pile of debris. The JSSDF realize that their
weapons are doing nothing to harm the Angel, and Commanders Ikari and
Fuyutsuki watch calmly as they know that conventional weapons have no
effect on Angels. The JSSDF then gets authority to execute the
"backup plan", which is really an Nē mine. Misato quickly tells
Shinji to get down, and throws herself down on top of him in the car. A
huge explosion is seen, and their car is flipped and blown away. Misato
and Shinji then push her car back upright and they introduce themselves.
The JSSDF, thinking that the mine destroyed the Angel, cheer, but then
they see that it had no effect at all. They then reluctantly pass on the
mission to Gendou Ikari and NERV.
Meanwhile,
Misato drives Shinji back to NERV HQ, silently whining about the 33
payments left on her car, plus repairs and the fact that her favorite
dress is ruined. When they reach NERV, Misato gives Shinji a NERV booklet
to read, and Shinji is considerably impressed when he sees the Geofront.
Misato tells Shinji that he will now see his father and work for him, but
gets the impression that Shinji doesn't get along well with him. Just like
her and her father. Then Misato realizes that she is lost (she just
started working here as well) and has to call for Dr. Ritsuko Akagi, who
meets her in the lift, rather annoyed with Misato. She then gets
introduced to Shinji, the Third Child. As they exit, they talk more about
NERV, as Shinji quietly reads the booklet. Suddenly they enter a dark
room, and when the lights turn on, Shinji comes face to face with
Evangelion Unit 01. He is shocked to see a robot face and quickly searches
his booklet on information about it. However, Ritsuko tells him that he
won't find any in there. He then asks "Is this my Father's work?"
To which a voice replies, "Correct." He looks up to see his
father looking down at him. Commander Ikari tells Shinji that he has to
pilot Unit 01, and Shinji replies that he can't because he's never even
seen anything like it before. Ikari is annoyed with his son's reluctance
and says, "If you're going to do it, then do it now. If not, then
leave." Shinji becomes rather upset that his father only wanted to
use him, and despite pushes from Ritsuko and Misato, still refuses.
Commander Ikari then tells Fuyutsuki to call Rei, because the "spare
is unusable." Rei is brought in on a roller stretcher, severely
injured, just as a blast from Angel #3 rocks the ground. Rei falls off the
stretcher in pain, as a debri threatens to crash on Shinji's head. Misato
calls out "Look out!" and as Shinji raised his hand to shield
his head, Unit 01 does the same, saving him from the debri. Misato then
realizes that Shinji is "the one." Shinji rushes to help Rei,
who is whimpering in pain. Shinji, seeing that she is bleeding and
remembering Misato's words telling him to not run away, finally agrees to
pilot the Eva. They place Shinji inside the entry plug and fill it with
LCL, before launching him off. As Shinji/Unit 01 stands face to face with
the Angel, Misato silently whispers, "Please don't die out there,
Shinji."

Title: Rain, Escape and Afterwards
Eye-catch Title: Hedgehog's Dilemma
Synopsis: Misato alarm wakes her and brushes her teeth before knocking on Shinji's door to wake him up for school. When there is no reply, she tells him that he can't avoid school forever, and when there is still no reply, she opens the door. The room is empty, and on the table is a note addressed to her and next to it is Shinji's NERV ID card. Misato sighs as she knows he has run away. The doorbell rings, and Misato immediately runs to open it, thinking it is Shinji. However, a surprised Toji and Kensuke is all that awaits on the other side of the door. They nervously introduce themselves, and Misato remembers them from the incident before. They apologize for the trouble they caused, and ask for Shinji. Misato lies that he is at the NERV training facility and thanks them for coming over. She closes the door and angrily kicks it, calling Shinji a jerk. Shinji is elsewhere, staying on a very long train ride, with his head hung, listening to his headphones. At work, Ritsuko asks whether or not Misato has heard from Shinji and she tells her that she has not. Misato then goes on to retell how she scolded Shinji before for disobeying her orders, and that maybe it was better if he didn't come back because getting into the Eva meant only pain to him.
When Kensuke is playing by himself a war game in the fields, he finds Shinji walking aimlessly. He calls out to Shinji and they stay in the tent for the night talking. In the morning, NERV people come to collect him, and all Kensuke can do is watch as they take him away. Misato talks to Shinji alone at NERV, in an extremely dim room. Misato questions whether he still wants to pilot the Eva, and Shinji replies that they have no one else so he has to do it. Misato tells him that if he doesn't want to he should go home. Shinji starts to say something about Rei and Misato, which makes Misato reply very harshly, surprising him. She then walks out of the room, slamming the door behind her. The next day, Shinji resigns from NERV, and before he leaves, asks to see Misato so he can say goodbye. However, the NERV agents tell him that he is no longer NERV personnel, so he is not entitled to that information. A sad Shinji is driven to the train station, where Toji and Kensuke throw him the bag that he left in Kensuke tent the night before. Toji apologizes to Shinji for hitting him, and demands that Shinji punch him back or else he won't feel good. Shinji does, and Toji and Kensuke say goodbye and take care to Shinji, before the NERV personnel take him away. As they take him up the stairs however, Shinji struggles out of their grip and yells down to Toji and Kensuke. "I'm the one who deserves to be hit! I'm dishonest! I'm a cheat...and a coward!" (something like that anyway). Toji and Kensuke watch in shock, as the NERV agents finally get him through the doorway.
Misato tells Ritsuko that she understands about the Hedgehog's Dilemma now and how the closer we get, the more deeply we hurt. She realizes Shinji's way of living, and realizes that she and him aren't so different after all. At the train station, Shinji's train arrives, just as Misato tears down the road in her blue car. She stops at the train station, and gets out the car, only to see the train leaving. Thinking that Shinji is already gone, she sighs. But as she turns her head, she sees Shinji standing there, with his head bowed. Misato's eyes light up, as does Shinji's when he finally spots her. The stare across at each other for a long time, until Shinji finally says, "I'm home" to which Misato smiles and replies "Welcome home."

Synopsis: Two pieces of toast pop out of the toaster and Shinji and Pen Pen are seen eating their breakfast just as Misato enters the room. She says good morning and drinks a can of beer for breakfast, making Shinji question, "what's wrong with coffee?" They argue a little bit about her living habits, but then Shinji asks Misato whether she is still coming to his school for the teacher/parent meeting. Misato replies that of course she is and Shinji leaves for school with his lovestruck classmates, Toji and Kensuke. Later at school, Misato skids to a stop outside Shinji's school in a red car, an steps out like a model, making all the boys stare in amazement. "Is she Ikari's guardian?!" After school, they meet in NERV for the usual tests and practices and Shinji learns that the Second Impact was not caused by a meteor like he was taught in school. Ritsuko informs him that it was in fact caused by the First Angel, Adam, who exploded in Antarctica without warning.
The next day, the toast pops out of the toaster, and Shinji and Pen Pen are seen eating their breakfast. However, this time Misato is all dressed up, and utters a low good morning to Shinji. Shinji and Pen Pen are surprised at her seriousness, and Misato tells them that she will be out for the whole day and that he should order something for dinner. Shinji quickly says ok, and Misato is off. Ritsuko and Misato are in actual fact attending a conference in Old Tokyo, where the Government there is trying to introduce a new weapon against the Angels, called the JA (Jet Alone). Ritsuko is strongly opposed to this, and argues that it is dangerous to have a weapon that uses radioactive material as it's core source of energy. However, the representative retaliates by saying that a machine that can only run 5 mins and can go berserk is not sufficient for combat (referring to the Evas). He then surprises Ritsuko by by bringing up the AT Field, a topic that is highly classified to NERV. Misato listens, seemingly uninterested, and sucking on a straw. Later however, Misato is seen in her fury kicking in a locker door, and yelling insults about the JA representative to Ritsuko who tells her to calm down, but is herself burning the JA documents and deleting files.
The JA goes for a test run, but trouble arises when the JA refuses to stop walking and ignores all orders. Misato then takes the mission into NERV's hands when the JA representative refuses to give her the password to override all the files. She calls Hyuga and tells him to send Shinji and Unit 01 over there ASAP. Misato then outlines her plan to go inside the JA and manually shut down the system to the JA representative who at the last moment, gives her the password. She also tells Shinji her plan, and he expresses his concerns for her. Misato replies, "my conscience won't let me do otherwise," and so the plan proceeds. Unit 01 is dropped from a plane and Shinji begins running to catch up with the JA, cradling Misato carefully in his hands. He grabs onto the JA to stop it from running and places Misato onto the JA's back. Misato climbs inside, while Shinji tries to prevent the JA from running anymore. Misato types in the password : HOPE, but an error message is displayed. Misato tries again, but with no luck. Misato then knows that somebody must have changed the systems' code, and instead tries to shut down the JA manually, by pushing at the rods. Just before the JA is about to meltdown, Misato succeeds, and the JA shuts down, much to the relief of everyone. Shinji immediately asks if she's all right and she replies, "Yeah, but not in the best of shape." Misato knows that somebody planned this whole incident.
Back at NERV, the next day, Ritsuko reports to Gendo that everything went according to plan, except for Captain Katsuragi's operation, and Gendo is pleased. At Misato's house, two pieces of toast pop out of the toaster, and Shinji and Pen Pen is seen eating breakfast. Misato enters, back to her normal self and gulps down her can of beer. Shinji leaves for school, looking annoyed, when Toji and Kensuke arrive. As the three boys walk to school, Kensuke and Toji tell Shinji how lucky he is to be living with Misato. Shinji replies that she's a slob and really lazy. Kensuke and Toji then shake their heads and say "Ikari really is just a child." "She let you see a side of her that she wouldn't show to anybody else. That means she family." Shinji thinks about this and smiles, silently agreeing that he is in fact lucky to have someone like Misato.
Quotes: "How did that smug SOB know about the AT Field?" -- Misato
"How could something so classified leak out?" -- Ritsuko
"That machine is as badly behaved as the idiot who created it!" -- Misato
"It's too dangerous!" -- Shinji // "Don't worry. The Evangelion can withstand both the explosion and the radiation." -- Misato // "Not for the Eva, for you!" -- Shinji

Title: Asuka Strikes!
Eye-catch Title: Asuka Strikes
Synopsis: Misato decides to take Shinji and his classmates, Toji and Kensuke, with her to collect the Second Child and Eva Unit 02. They meet with the German Asuka Langley Sohyru, aka the Second Child, on a boat as Misato tries to get the Admiral of the ship to hand over Unit 02. As Misato is in the process of this, Ryoji Kaji waves from the bridge entrance, sending Asuka into a state of excitement, and Misato into shock. The six of them then sit at a table in the lower deck as Kaji gazes as Misato. He asks whether she has a boyfriend and she replies harshly that it's none of his business. Kaji pretends to be hurt and turns his attention to Shinji instead. He asks "So tell me, is she [Misato] still so...wild in bed?" The whole table of people freak out and Misato immediately yells what he means by that. He only teases her more, making her extremely embarrassed and hides her head in her arms. Misato, Shinji and his friends move off, while Kaji talks to Asuka outside. He asks what she thinks of the Third Child, and Asuka says that he is boring. Kaji then tells her that his synch ratio was over 40% without any prior training, and she replies with a surprised, "Mein Gott!"
Asuka drags Shinji away from his group and shows him her red Evangelion, just as an Angel is spotted. Asuka immediately dresses in her red plugsuit and forces Shinji to dress in one too, against his protests. She then makes him go into Unit 02 and she activates it. Misato is happy and tells them to go for it, although the Admiral of the ship orders that the Evangelion be stopped. Asuka plays hopscotch with Unit 02 on the battleships, and they have an underwater battle with the Angel. However, the Type B equipment used in Unit 02 is not suitable for underwater combat, and they encounter a few problems. Their umbilical cable runs out, so they are not able to pursue the Angel deeper. Not only that, the Angel turns around and closes it mouth around the Evangelion. Misato is given an idea when Toji mentions it is like fishing. She sees Kaji leaving, or rather running away, in his helicopter, which leaves her speechless at Kaji cowardice. She asks for the cooperation of the Admiral, who finally agrees and Misato outlines her plan. Unit 02 would hold open the mouth of the Angel, while the three remaining battleships fire all their ammunition into the Angel, thus destroying it. This plan is also told to Asuka and Shinji, and they are forced to work together to pry the Angel's mouth open. After a lot of pushing, the Angel is destroyed, and Unit 02 lands on the battleship, before collapsing.
As Asuka and Shinji make their way out of the Evangelion, his friends catch him wearing Asuka's plugsuit and this embarrasses him. Asuka immediately runs to Misato and asks for Kaji, and Misato replies in disgust that he is long gone. Kaji is next seen meeting secretly with Commander Ikari, and handing him an important case. Kaji guesses correctly that he is passing Ikari the keystone for the Human Instrumentality Project and Ikari replies by telling him that is "Adam". At Shinji's school, the Toji and Kensuke discuss how happy they are that they don't have to deal with Asuka anymore, but Shinji has to work with her everyday. Just then, the new student enters the room, sending the three boys in a state of shock. The new student then writes her name on the board and turns to greet the class. "I'm Asuka Langley Soryu. Charmed, huh?"

Title: With one Accord in a Flash
Eye-catch Title: Both of you, Dance like you want to Win!
Synopsis: Asuka has just transferred into Shinji's school (707) and has quickly become the most popular girl there. Toji and Kensuke are selling pictures of her for money, and she receives many love letters in her locker on which she steps on in disgust. She then goes to find Shinji and asks him if the First Child is here too. Asuka's shadow falls on Rei's reading, so she is forced to look up. Asuka proposes that they become good friends because "its convenient." Rei simply replies "If I am ordered to, I will do so."
Kaji is seen hitting on Ritsuko, seemingly just to spite Misato who is watching angrily on the other side of the glass pane. An Angel appears over Tokyo-3, and Asuka and Shinji's Evas are dispatched. Asuka disregards orders and attacks the Angel herself, much to Shinji's anger. However, the Angel splits into two and Asuka is triumphant. Shinji is surprised that the Angel got beaten so easily, but then the two halves turn into two Angels. Both Evas are attacked, and much to the humiliation of NERV, defeated easily. Shinji and Asuka are given a huge lecture and told that they have to learn to work together. Misato is then lumped with all the paperwork and blamed for the incident, but Ritsuko hands her a disk from Kaji to save her job. When Shinji arrives home, he finds DHL boxes stacked and scattered all around his house, but thinks nothing of it until he goes into a room and finds Asuka there. Shocked, he questions what she is doing here, and she replies that Misato has chosen to live with her instead of him. She then goes on to complain about the Japanese houses, just as Misato returns home. Immediately they both want to know what is going on, and she tells them that they have to live together as part of a NERV training project. They both freak out and Misato explains to them that a synchronized attack of Unit 01 and Unit 02 is the only way to beat the two-part Angel.
When Toji, Kensuke and Hikari come to see Shinji and Asuka they are shocked to see them in the same house, wearing the same thing. Misato then appears with Rei, and they all go in and Misato explains to them why Asuka and Shinji are living together. They all have a good laugh while Asuka and Shinji are having a lot of trouble synchronizing with each other to a song. Asuka gets extremely frustrated and Misato asks if she's giving up. Asuka smirks that Misato has no one else, so Misato asks Rei to try. Rei and Shinji synch perfectly, and Misato comments that she should change the project to pair Shinji and Rei instead. This makes Asuka extremely upset and she storms out the room. Hikari yells at Shinji to go after her because he made her cry. Shinji follows Asuka into the kitchen and Asuka tells him that she will pilot the Eva with him just to show Misato and Rei what she can do. The days of practice continue, as D-day draws near. The night before, Misato is out working, leaving Asuka and Shinji by themselves at home for the night. Asuka brings her sleeping bag over to the next room and tells Shinji not to cross over or else she will kill him. Shinji stays up all night listening to his headphones, when suddenly Asuka's door opens. Shinji quickly pretends to be asleep and pauses his song. Asuka goes to the toilet and when she comes back out falls onto his sleeping bag instead of hers. Shinji is nervous and unsure of what to do. He almost kisses her, but in the end decides not do and sleeps on the floor instead, feeling rather dejected.
The next scene switches to Misato and Kaji kissing in the elevator. Misato tries to stop but finds it difficult and finally pushes him away when the lift stops at the floor she wants. She tells him that there is nothing between them anymore, as he picks up her files and replies to her that her lips say differently. Kaji bows slightly as the lift doors close, and Misato hurls her papers at the closed elevator door in her frustration. NERV prepares for the big day as Asuka and Shinji are await their launch in their Evangelions. They are given specific instructions about the simultaneous attack in which they have 62 seconds to execute. As soon as the Evas are launched, the music and timer starts. (They do a cool dance which I can't even begin to explain, you just have to watch it yourself! ^_^) The Angel is destroyed much to the relief of NERV, but as the smoke clears, Shinji and Asuka are seen already arguing. This leaves Misato and the rest of NERV speechless, and Commander Fuyutsuki groans, "Those darn kids are embarrassing us again."
