I live in suburbia and require a permit to keep and breed my cats. The number of cats that can remain at Sharada is consequently limited. At first I thought that it would be impossible for me to breed seriously due to the numbers of cats required and I wondered if I could actually do it.
The policy that has been adopted is to de-sex and re-home ALL breeding cats
mostly before the end of their 3rd year – sometimes earlier - in this way they get the best of both worlds – much loved pets in two separate environments. The following girls and boys have contributed to Sharada Birman development and have been re-homed happily. I keep in touch with them and their adoptee owners.
I have tried to include here all the cats that have contributed to either my
experience as a breeder or in some small or great way to the Sharada kittens
that are being produced here today.

DAYDREAM BELIEVER - "Clyde"
 |
"Clyde" now retired from Stud, was re-homed as a
pet (via his breeder Vicki-Lee Eves) in South Australia. His new owner Fiona
exhibited him during 2004 and gained his Premier Neuter title. He has left an
impression here that will be long felt - also through his sons Sharada
Boots-N-All and Sharada Puss-In-Boots.
Clyde’s sons include Sharada Boots-N-All – exhibited in NSW by Pam Coyte of Minosa
Birmans. During 2003 "Bootie" achieved Best Entire Birman Kitten NSW and also Runner Up Kitten for Group 1 NSW....the
following year a full brother Sharada Puss-In-Boots replicated the achievement
in Victoria - Best Birman Kitten 2004 and 3rd Best Kitten for Group 1 going on
to become Gold Grand Champion 12 months to the day from his first show
outing......
|
NZ Silver Ch,
Gold Australian Ch. SHARADA PUSS-IN-BOOTS -"Possum"
|
Due to the return of Shadeso'Blue "Possum" has gone to join the Fletchers in New
Zealand and has sired his
first litters including some very promising babies.
"Possum" - Sharada Puss-In-Boots - was my first home bred seal point
stud and first homebred Gold Grand Champion. Heavy boned, typical sweet Birman expression, nice profile and wonderful correct textured coat.
His eye colour improved as he aged and he was difficult to fault - I am very proud of him. He is from one of the last litters sired by
"Clyde" – Shiki Daydream Believer - and proved he carried chocolate like his dad…..
"Possum"
gained his Gold Champion Title and was retired as he merely tolerated the show
ring and it was felt he had far too much to offer the breed to de-sex at the
young age of 2 years old.....and now he has discovered the show bench again in
New Zealand - handling well and relaxed - already a multiple Best In show
winner......

CCCoA Ch, ACF AoE, Gold
Ch.,Gold Pr. SHEKINAH SOLAIMON - "Leon"
 |
Combining Shiki lines from South
Australia and Shinoto Lines from New Zealand, “Leon” has sired BOTH
lilacs and chocolates for Sharada and Dejavu who had the pleasure of
co-owning and exhibiting him. His influence remains in both catteries. You
can see his famous progeny here and at Dejavu
Web Page
Although Leon has retired as a stud he stayed
here and was shown during 2005 as my FIRST EVER SHOW NEUTER …....taking off
BEST GROUP 1 NEUTER FOR 2005 at CAV Shows.... Now he has retired to
a life of luxury, accompanied by his full sister Tiarna and her little blue son
"Smokey"
I visited him recently and asked would he like
to go to shows and was told "NO"- HE SAID HE DOES NOT WANT TO COME OUT
OF RETIREMENT....EVER!!! He is certainly enjoying a very happy home and
being spoiled.
|
Double Grand Ch. SHARADA
SHADESO BLUE - "Bluie"
| "Bluie" was from my first ever
litter and did some amazing things for Eldorato Birmans where he lived the
first 5 years of his life twice siring Best Group 1 Cat of The Year and
many champions. He continued to star as a stud when he was returned to me
but posed a problem as he was now a 5 years old career stud and I was
concerned about how to retire him. After visiting the Florencia Birman
Cattery in New Zealand and seeing the wonderful way their Studs are
kept and with a promise in place that he would live out his life with Jo
and David - "Bluie" now lives in New Zealand.
His influence lives on through numerous progeny that
remain here in Australia. |

|
Gold Ch DEJAVU HERSHEY -
"Hershey"
|

|
"Hershey" lived here and was
exhibited for some time in co-ownership with his breeder but has now
returned to sole ownership of Debra Raus Dejavu
Birmans - I retain an interest in him (as do the girls here.)
Hershey is continuing his interrupted
show career - leased to Elmcrest Birmans for 12 months - and doing it in
style as he was SUPREME MALE BIRMAN at the 2006 Birman Society
Championship show!! He has fulfilled his early promise, strong boned
and with a fantastic strong chin. He maintains his dad’s coat and
temperament, still a delight to show and he has many friends around the
ring.

Ch. GRAMAR THE GRADUATE -
"Chad"
|
Chad has already fulfilled his purpose
here in true "Graduate" fashion.
He organised a union with "Velvet
Slippers" when he was just 6 months old and they had a lovely litter
of 5 babies, he gained his title quickly, has had two more
"wives" and has already moved on contributing his impeccable
pedigree and his OUTCROSS lines. His wonderful sweet nature won him a
fabulous home with a lovely couple who had come to look at a
kitten.....thank you Chad I know you will make them very happy. I like the
idea of retiring the stud boys as early as possible.
Thanks to all at Gramar for allowing us
to own this sweet fellow.... |

|
SHARADA TABBY TWO SHOES - "TTS"
|

|
I am not sure whether "TTS" belongs
here with the Retired Studs or not...A really beautiful kitten I showed
him with great success - including many Groups and Supreme In Show - but
because he did not quite make it to an entire as he retained a testicle -
I decided when a perfect home came along to de-sex and re-home at 9 months
of age..My reasoning? As he was so clumsy he would not work until much
later - his skills were not great. WRONG!!
Between him and Phoenix they managed to produce a litter of five kittens
when a successful union occurred several days AFTER he was desexed.
Four tabby girls - lilac, blue, chocolate and seal AND a chocolate
boy.
All the girls have gone as breeding girls and the seal
is still here called SHARADA IMPOSSIBLE DREAM. THANK YOU "TTS"
enjoy your pet home. |

Ch. KALEERBA SERENDIPITY -
"Sarah"
|
"Sarah" was my foundation Birman Queen. She came to be my pet as a retired cattery cat and then introduced me to the wonder of Birman breeding. Never would I have thought of re-homing her again – in fact the people who adopted her came to meet her daughter but as fate would have it, they fell in love with Sarah.
With the same Serendipity that she came into my life she moved on and it is my constant delight to see how happy she is in her one cat household where she truly is idolised. She produced four litters leaving winning, producing progeny with which to move forward. Her best known daughter being, Db.Gd.Ch. Sharada She’s An Angel and best known son being, Db.Gd.Ch. Sharada Shades Of Blue,
winning champion progeny.
|
 |
Ch. SHIKI SWEET SURPRISE -
"Sweetie"
 |
"Sweetie" came from Shiki Birman cattery to help me establish a chocolate
program. From two litters – no chocolate kittens eventuated and she had just helped Missy rear the second 'disaster litter' when the adoptive parents
- Sue and John - visited Missy.
They fell in love with Sweetie and wanted to take her as
well...so...the two of them are happily homed
together and I did not get my chocolate point kitten.
|
Db.Gr.Ch & Silver Gr.Pr. SHINOTO DREAM
MAKER (Imp NZ) - "Mrs Dreams"
| Dreams"– lovingly called 'The Dreams Cat' or
"Mrs Dreams" is a personal favourite and I adore the cats that have
her in their pedigree. A wonderful lilac girl, she was imported from New Zealand and became the foundation of this colour for me.
Her sister who accompanied her was considered to be the "show girl"
and Dreams the "breeder" - not a bad show record for a "breed
quality" girl.
Her adoptee parents travelled over 500 miles to meet her. Although she did not go home with
them at that time, she was not forgotten and by keeping in touch over several months it became clear that was the perfect home for her. She has settled really well
sharing her new home with a wonderful cream point Birman neuter called "Thumper" and is helping to introduce her new owners to the world of the show-ring. I receive regular photos and e-mails and am so pleased at how it is all working out. |

|
Ch. SHARADA SHE'S HEAVENLY
- "Gloria"
|

|
"Gloria" was one of those cats who
was born and lived here for some time but did not actually contribute to
the development of the Sharada Birmans. I am afraid sometimes my heart
rules my head.
As a young Queen she became mum to the smallest litter I have ever bred - one bouncing blue point boy.
This little fellow was adopted and Gloria went with him to become a loved family pet. These circumstances were not planned
(as you can see my re-homing rarely is) but as reduction of breeding girls is necessary and
a perfect home turned up, she moved on. What could be better than to retire a breeding girl with her own kitten.
Her new owners love her gentle purrs, lovely silky coat and affectionate nature. |
Db.Gr.Ch. SHARADA SHE'S AN ANGEL - "Angel"
|
Angel is maybe my favourite of all the cats
and I delayed retiring her until she was 5 years old...but she finallyfound a wonderful home in Sydney together with one of her kittens named
"Claude" and a sweet little girl from Peloux Playmate who is called
"Bonnie"...
Their new owners came to meet them when the kittens were
just 6 weeks old and then came back to collect them - meanwhile a beautiful
outside enclosure was built attached to the house giving them the best of all
possible lives.
The trio keep in touch with me by sending wonderful photos of
how they "manage" Michael and Karen - I could not be happier.
Dejavu Miss Molly and Dejavu
Hershey both are Grand children of Angel

 |
CH. SHARADA ONCE UPON A DREAM ("Emma")
 |
Emma was having dominance issues wanting to
be Top Cat and left here semi retired leaving me with a lovely
lilac daughter (Phoenix) and blue point daughter (Melody) BOTH Gold Show
Champions - but in fact she went off to help with the establishment
of lilac colouring within the RAGDOLL breed. She was to produce one litter.
Emma did oblige and produced a foundation
RAGDOLL litter of 5 lovely kittens in an approved breeding programme for her
care-taker Pam Baker (Ragalon Ragdolls).
Pam is working on a special
breeding program to improve chocolate and lilac colouring in Ragdolls.....this
is the first step in 4 generations to produce a pure bred lilac Ragdoll. All
very exciting.
With that contribution out of the way Emma now lives in luxury
in her permanent pet home and has a Ragdoll kitten companion. |
Ch. SHARADA ONLY DREAMING
- "Only"
| "Only" was another with Dominance
Issues - this often happens with entire hormonal girls and it is
sometimes that consolidation is necessary. For this reason
"Only" has gone to live with Erin Onesti in Western Australia where it
is hoped she will be re-integrated into family life. One of the few
females I have allowed to leave here entire.
Erin is just starting out in Birmans and will have a litter from
"Only" and then lets see.......she may stay as a pet - Erin has
several Russians that are 9 - 14 years old....... |

|
Ch. PELOUX PLAYMATE -
"Miss P"
 |
"Miss Peloux" was a stunning kitten always
accounting well for herself in the ring....and with a personality that was
quirky and delightful.
"Miss P" came from Jenny Winterbine and
Carol Kane - Peloux Birmans - and according to an agreement has been returned to
them after leaving a final wonderful litter - called the "Fairytale
Litter". Her son Sharada Peter Pan is with Michelle Armour in NSW
and her daughter Sharada Cinderella remains here - both reflecting their
famous mum and dad and already titled and multiple group winners....while
another son Sharada Little Boy Blue lives in Denmark at Song
Hio Birmans and has managed to sire a BEST IN SHOW winner. |
Ch. SHARADA SATIN SLIPPERS
- Satin"
|
"Satin" was the show breeding girl retained for 2004. She had a litter by Shekinah Soolaimon and she produced TWO lilac boys in her tiny first litter.
A dedicated mum and she was then mated to Sharada Shadeso’Blue and although I
was hoping for a lilac or blue girl for me it was not to be...two more boys. A sweet natured affectionate girl with a wonderful satin silky coat of the correct texture and great eye colour she has
now moved on to a perfect indoor / enclosure home which she now shares with two
more rescued Birmans....choice was keep Satin or her mum Michaela -
"Mickey" won....
Update - Unfortunately
the husband of the household where Satin was living became allergic to
cats and his health was seriously affected..so she moved again but by a
quirk of fate now lives with one of her friends and a Ragdoll...just round
the corner from me....
|
 |
Ch. SHARADA WEAVIN DREAMS
- "Weaver"
 |
"Weaver" was retained to progress
the lilac programme, a lovely little lilac point. She is very
'typey', has a lovely length of coat and her point colour is very 'pink'. She
produced a litter of 6 babies which appeared healthy, happy and well.
All was looking good until the sad demise of one of the two lilac babies, from FIP at 6
months of age and the other from the same litter at 18 months. As this was my
first encounter with the tragedy of FIP and it is believed that there may be an
inherited component in some individuals both Weaver and her daughter S. Sweet Dreams
were removed from the breeding programme. Weaver moved on where she
now rules the roost at her new home as a spoiled pet where her exquisite
personality is REALLY appreciated. She and the rest of her litter remain
healthy.
FIP is an awful disease that troubles
Researchers to this day with no known cure and little understanding as to
why it occurs....it is thought that in the presence of Corona virus +
Individual Pre-disposition to Mutate that Virus + Stress - either
Emotional or Physical = mutation to Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP)
which is almost always fatal.
|
Ch. SHEKINAH TIARNA -
"Tiarna"
|
Full sister to Shekinah Soolaimon, and Full litter brother to the wonderful Shekinah
Mateus this sweetest of sweet cats came unexpectedly due to her breeder
down-sizing.
This little girl is a
treasure and reared a llitter by S. Shadeso Blue. As she was over 4
years old she was retired and her new "forever" owner also adopted one
of her little
blue sons and also took with her the retiring Shekinah Soolaimon - "Leon"
A really beautiful large outdoor enclosure was
constructed that is accessible to a large comfie
house which the cats access 24/7....there is even a viewing platform so the cats
can watch what goes on in the street. From her final litter I retained a perfectly marked little seal girl named Sharada Wild
Rose....who has gone to live with Deb Saunders Kriska
Birmans in NSW.
|

|
Ch. SHARADA SWEET DREAMS -
"Sweetie"
|

|
Little Sweetie is just that, a small girl but well made and
beautifully marked possessing the clearest silkiest coat.
She titled and lived
for a time with Kay Campbell - produced 2 little boys
in a litter and recently due to Kay's ill health returned to find a
forever home. She is a typical small
girl, very full of herself and quite "Bossie" very sweet with people
but not a cattery cat.
As she came from a litter in which two siblings
tragically died from FIP I was disinclined to breed from her so she now lives as
a the little princess with a lovely elderly retired lady. She is spoiled rotten
and they are
very good company for each other. |
SHEKINAH BABOOSHKA -
"Babbie"
'Baboo" came as a surprise when she was offered to me by her
breeder who was down-sizing. A blue tabby with a lovely temperament, impeccable pedigree
- mostly imported NZ - but not blessed with show markings.
A lovely big girl, nice long body, long tail and lovely eye
colour and the sweetest nature.
Babbie is mum to Sharada Tabby Two Shoes
and Sharada Tee For Tiger - tabby boys....and I have her grand-daughter baby
Sharada impossible Dream - a little seal tabby.
Meanwhile Babbie has moved on to what I
think will be a
sensational permanent home with no other cats and a very loving family - she deserves it.

 |
Gr.Ch. ZAESHINWA KOKOPELIi
CREAM - "Peli"
|

|
Peli produced three litters - the first delivered by
C Section due to a dead kitten - I have learned not to vaccinate
pregnant queens!!! The survivor from that litter is Ch.S.Chasin'Rainbows and a nice big red boy
S.Rafferty
Rules - see gallery. In her 2nd litter 4 boys arrived one a beautiful Cream point -
see S. Oliver Cromwell in Gallery. Repeating that mating I have kept Sharada Rainbow Sky - no creams this time.
Peli is a very sweet natured cat with a wonderful UK
imported pedigree - she has bought a much needed outcross to the cattery...What
now!!..
After deliberation it was decided this sweet girl deserved
her pet home.....so she now lives as a sole cat
with her new owner. It was a very hard decision to allow her
to go. |
Ch. SHARADA CHASIN
RAINBOWS - "Rainbow"
| Rainbow was the surviving female from Peli's
litter and was the sweetest little girl. She did some nice winning as a
kitten despite losing a portion of what would have been a very long tail -
due to having circulatory problems after the c - section birth. Her
biggest win was Best Birman Kitten at the Birman Society Show and she did
produce a little girl in her first litter that went to live with Debra
Raus - Dejavu Birmans.
Recently when I was down-sizing Rainbow went to live at
Peloux Birmans where she is very happy being an indoor cat and the aim was
to have her produce a tortie for them. Although the litter was forthcoming
- no tortie.....so she is to remain for one more attempt to try for
a nice little tortie (fingers crossed) and will then retire to a pet home
all of her own. Rainbow Sky her half sister carries Pelis lines
forward. |

|
Ch. SHENJI MICHAELA -
"Mickey"
|

|
There is not enough space here for me to tell
you how much I care for this girl...she had some wonderful litters and was
a GREAT cat and for her retirement I wanted what she loved most - to be an
inside / outside girl - she simply loved hunting. After inspecting three
diffnt homes that were offered and finding them unsafe/unsuitable I was
really concerned about what to do - she was definitely the
"Boss" and here was causing a lot of disruption.
Finally after visiting Florencia Birmans in New Zealand
came the solution - she was to retire there in return for one last
litter...which she has done - now living as an inside/outdoor cat - no
risk of predators, on safe acerage and the BEST retirement possible. Thank
you Jo and David. |
Ch. SHAMAN CHOCOLATE
TRUFFLES - "Truffles"
|
"Truffles" came to me as an older
girl - nearly 12 months of age - from a special breeding family. Although
she had two litters for me nothing was retained.....Due to health problems
I was considering stopping breeding at the time when "Mickey"
and "Bluie" were to leave for New Zealand. After a discussion
involving "Truffs" future this sweet little guirky girl went
with them.
There was a firm promise that she would receive her
special permanent pet home after producing a litter. Both outcomes have
been achieved - she produced a little show marked daughter and now lives
permanently as a loved pet.
|

|
Grand Champion SHARADA
CINDERELLA - "Cinders"
|

|
"Cinders" is from the Fairytale
litter - from Peloux Playmate - her blue point brother - S.Little
Boy Blue - is now in Denmark with Song
h'io Birmans and her
seal point brother Ch.S.Peter Pan lives with Michelle Armour - Sobriquet
Birmans NSW Both Peter Pan and Cinderella accounted well as kittens with multiple show
ring successes at Group level.
"Cinders" is a sweet little lady
- with a touch of attitude and now lives permanently with Meaghan
O'Halloran and the O'Halloran family - Rume
Birmans - in rural Victoria. Both Shiki Shamarli - Meaghan's lovely
seal boy enjoy house privileges - this wonderful boy known as
"Monty" does not spray!! what has she left behind but a
lovely promising seal male kitten I have named Sharada Tellin'
Stories.....see him on Studs page. |
Double Grand Champion
SHARADA VELVET SLIPPERS - "Velvet" AKA "Peru"
| Velvet is such a sweet natured little girl
who emulated her wonderful mum and half siblings going Best
Exhibit In Group 1 at the GCCFV Kitten Show at the
beginning of 2006. She continued
to account well for herself at Group level during the year despite the
fact that 4 Sharada kittens were shown in the same age Group during 2006.
Well you can't keep them all so when hard decisions had to be made she has
moved on to become Suzanne Parkinson's show/breeding cat but it was agreed
she would have a litter bearing the Sharada prefix early 2007.....and she
did!!! ....BUT not by design but though a creative mating with a 6
months old youngster - result Five beautiful babies!!!
Subsequent attempts to organise an arranged planned union have not been
successful...... ...disdain for the boys on offer - so reluctantly she has been
transferred over to Suzanne with a promise that I can have a kitten later
on when she mends her ways...
|

|
Champion
SHARADA PERUVIAN SLIPPERS - "Isis"
|

|
"Isis" is a sweet
little girl, great body and wonderful eye colour.....and from S. Velvet
Slippers. She has the clearest pale coat for a blue girl, could do with a
little more Roman nose andIn all fairness to Suzanne she was transferred
into her name and produced the first Brynler baby Birmans with a mating to
Kasseem...one of them is stunning - has a much better roman nose than her
mum and reminds me of her grannie. She has gone to be a pet and breeding
girl to a Birman Breeding Colleague in South Australia.
Because this Brynler baby had a little too much white
Suzanne will have an additional litter from her mum next year or towards
the end of this year and we are hoping that she will have one that is well
marked for Suzanne to keep - I am watching her as well.... |

In
Memorial
Sadly sometimes one of my beloved cats is not destined to stay
long with me in anything but "Spirit" and this section is to honour
those who have gained their wings and flown away prematurely. Each has
left a sad sweet memory and although they may be gone they are never forgotten
by those who knew them....
SHARADA SHES A BLESSING ("Brock")
|

|
Little "Brock" was almost hand reared and as a result, her nature was very sweet and affectionate….BUT she was constantly picked on by all the other cats.
With stunning eye colour and a lovely clear coat, I attempted to move forward in a chocolate breeding program. It was not to be, as although she did produce 5 lovely natured pets, no breed quality babies eventuated. In her turn Brock was re-homed with a very dear friend in a rural part of the country side, where she was living a happy life as a much loved, mostly indoor pet. Recently on one of her rare excursions outside to answer natures call, she simply disappeared.
Despite an extensive search of the State Forest and bordering properties she has not been seen and it is feared that she became victim of a predatory eagle or fox.
R.I.P sweet little "Brock".
|
SHARADA SHE'S A SHAKTI -
"Missy" aka "Saffie"
Missy" - Sarah’s first
Sharada daughter - 'Typey' but poorly marked, she was retained as a breeding
girl. I learned a lot - the main lesson was - 'Don’t spoil your breeding girls so they forget they are a cat!' A disaster of a
mum - two daughters produced litters Sharada Silver Lining ("Crystal")
and Sharada Shes A Blessing ("Brock") nothing further from that
family was retained. Saffie lived adored and waited on as a true Princess in her
new home with Sweetie - the line continues through her
litter brother Db.Gd.Ch.Sharada Shadeso' Blue.
SAD NEWS : June 2006 - Devastating
news- Saffie has left us - far two young. She had a blood clot
affecting and painfully paralysing her back legs and had to be given her wings.
It is heartbreaking for all of us who knew this lovely lady. R.I.P darling girl
it is very hard to realise she is gone.
