CCC of A Champion, Gold Champion SHARADA INYA DREAMS - "Inya"

THE BIRMAN SOCIETY INC - BEST BIRMAN CAT 2007

My name is Heather. I was until recently a registered breeder of the Sacred Cat of Burma, dedicated to breeding the beautiful Birman Cat in colours of Seal, Blue, Chocolate and Lilac point and some of the newer Lynx or Tabby points and 'Red Series'.

For 8 years I was dedicated to breeding quality Birmans and belonged to the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy, Victoria and Australia and also Sacred Cat of Burma Fanciers Association of Australia Inc. and The Birman Society Inc and recently became a Life Member of the Birman Cat Club in the UK.

Time however eventually catches up with all of us and it is now the time to hang up my breeders apron and enjoy the next phase of my life WITHOUT CATS.... BUT WITH MANY WONDERFUL MEMORIES. I will amend the site over the next weeks so that it can reflect some of the joy that breeding this most wonderful breed of cat has bought to my life.

Where It All Started

I acquired my first Birman late 1999 and bred my first litter in February 2000. This included two champions one of which was Db.Gd.Ch. Sharada Shadeso Blue who was owned and shown successfully by Lesley Freeman of Eldorato Birmans and at 5 years of age returned here for two seasons..........He has since retired to his final home at Florencia Birman Cattery in New Zealand where he will live out the remainder of his life enjoying a country property retirement.

My foundation queen Ch. Kaleerba Serendipity (Sarah) was a "gift" and came to me already in kitten to produce the litter mentioned above. An exceptional starting point for a hobby that has given a lot of pleasure, in her second litter Sarah produced Db.Gr. Ch. Sharada Shes An Angel (Angel) who in her turn, contributed by producing a lovely daughter Ch. Sharada Always An Angel (Little Angel), dam of the fabulous BIS winning choc point boy Gold Ch. Dejavu Hershey (Hershey) who following the passing of his breeder Debbie Raus - in September 2007 - came to live with me and is now enjoying his retirement in a fantastic pet home with his full sister Db.Gr.Ch.Dejavu Lilac Time (Lucy)

Sarah retired permanently and is approaching her 12th birthday, Angel has followed Sarah’s example and is also now enjoying a happy retirement with her new family in Sydney. Sarah influence was very strong through various progeny. She is the mum and grand mother of several multi-titled progeny and winning producers and her son Db.Gd.Ch. Sharada Shadeso Blue played a major part in the breeding program. Her grand-daughters Silver Gr.Ch. Dejavu Miss Molly, Db.Gr.Ch. Sharada Rainbow Sky and Gold Ch. Sharada Inya Dreams were all leading ladies and this means her influence will remain for some time to come as these beautiful girls have gone to very select homes to continue her legacy.

One Birman led to another so in the 8 years I had the pleasure of owning, breeding and exhibiting some very fine Birmans from top Imported and Australian Champion lines came to share their lives and love with me...:-

Kittens!!! What can I say about kittens. They have been a joy - to see them born, to enjoy the wonder of the devotion of the mum cats and to play my part in rearing them and to watching them develop into handsome adults. Yes I am sure that I will miss having them around. I have had the pleasure of placing some beautiful babies in wonderful homes and have been delighted when members of the family come back wanting even more of my precious babies......As many as 5 going to the one family. Heartache?? Yes there has been a little of that too.....the occasional litter that does not go well and the (fortunately) rare occurrence when I have had to grieve with a family who have lost their baby at far too young an age...

On the whole though a rewarding experience filled with the richness of new relationships formed, friendships and the chance to play an important part in promoting appreciation of a wonderful family oriented companionable breed

As I will be travelling I will be difficult to contact but my web site will be able to be viewed for 12 months. If you want to find out more about kittens and kitten care my KITTEN NURSERY SITE will also still be accessible for general information BUT THERE WILL BE NO MORE SHARADA BIRMANS - Sharada Birman Nursery Site  I will have a hotmail address while travelling - see below.
