DAW

Our interest begins with Priscilla DAW (sometimes DAWE)  who was born in Haselbury Plucknett, near Yeovil, Somerset, in 1862, to Thomas DAW, a farm labourer, and Priscilla DRUCE. It seems the main claim to fame for the village of Haselbury Plucknett is that it was the site of the hermitage of Saint Wulfric.

Priscilla's brother, Thomas DAW, served in the British Army, and was one of the defenders in the battle against the Zulu at Rorke's Drift.

Priscilla moved to London at some time, marrying there about 1890 to James WARE. The family lived at one time at Pancras, in London, before migrating to Queensland about 1906.
