The National Archives of Ireland are to be commended for placing their
searchable database on the net.
The Irish Transportation records cover the following:
- Transportation Registers for period 1836-1857
- Prisioners' Petitions & Cases 1788-1836
- State Prisoners' Petitions 1798-99
RECORDS NOT INCLUDED Be aware that, as at time of writing, only 1 and 2 are covered
by the database. The convict indents, available in hard copy or in microform
at the Archives Office of New South Wales and other places, are not
included in the database.
National Archives of Ireland website
advises that all transportation registers compiled before 1836 were destroyed in the four Courts fire of June 1922, therefore if a person was convicted before 1836, but was not subject of a petition, he or she will not appear in the database.
