God's Laws of Love"God's Laws of Love" are found in Exodus 20. God's motive for these 10 laws is love. "I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to Myself. Now, therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine." (Exodus 19:4-5) "...because the Lord loves you." (Deuteronomy 7:8) " ...His statutes which I command you today for your good." (Deuteronomy 10:12-13) What does God want from us?
God's right: "I am the Lord" God's relationship: "Your God" God's redemption: "Who brought you out of... the house of bondage." "Pride makes a god of self, covetousness makes a god of money, sensuality makes a god of the belly. Whatever is esteemed or loved, feared or served, delighted in or depended on more than God, that (whatever it is) we do in effect make a god of." (Matthew Henry) Is it possible to keep these laws?Read about some who lived "blameless" lives: Job 1:11; Timothy 3:2; 1 Timothy 3:10; 2 Peter 3:14; Ephesians 1:4; 1 Thessalonians 1:1, 2:10; Luke 1:5-6. Yes, by God's grace and power, it is possible to live this way! Prove it: by your obedience"By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments..." (1 John 5:2-3) |
