I did this a little while ago and thought to myself "self, lets do it again and see if there's some improvement on the horizon."  So here goes, what do we have to look forward to on the big screen in near future.  Is there hope?  Will dreams come true?  Is there still a 4-year-old running around typing up blurbs on the Hoyts site?  Here goes...

Daredevil - another comic book brought to life.  This time we have a dude whose eyes are damaged by radiation or something, but all his other senses are enhanced 10 fold.  He decides to fight crime with them.  Hhmm.  Actually you may remember me raving about this when I saw the preview a couple of months back, I wouldn't mind seeing it.  Great soundtrack anyway!

Below - another submarine movie.  Where does this differ?  And I quote "Overflowing with terrifying deep-water intrigue, this WWII submarine thriller sets a crew at risk of combat, just as they discover that some other evil that lurks in the deep sea below."  Soooooo, are we to expect a cross between Leviathon and U-571, the Dirty Dozen meets Alien?  Cor, go the sub movies.

The Emperor's Club - Kevin Kline, he's not bad, stays away from the commercially hip and that's to his credit.  Reading the blurb though, it says something about a passionate teacher whose world is turned upside down when a new student comes to his class.  Battle of wills turning into a lasting friendship with a life-long lesson learned.  Good Will Hunting anyone?

Dog Soldiers - I'm intrigued by this I must say, although the super-natural theme always makes me err on the side of caution.  And I quote "Something evil lurks in the wilds of Scotland, and this unfortunate troop of soldiers are about to stumble upon it. A routine exercise takes an unexpected turn when the troop discovers a ravaged bunch of dead soldiers out in the woods. With dusk quickly turning to night, and an ominous full-moon lighting up the sky, the soldiers decide to hide-out in an abandoned farmhouse. With their supplies and morale both in short supply, the soldiers become trapped in the farmhouse by a pack of hungry werewolves who seem hellbent on enjoying the soldiers for dinner. Can anything stop them?"  It sounds a little bit American Werewolf in London meets Predator, but still, I love werewolves.  If I can't be a vampire when I grow up, I'm gonna be one of them instead.

Ned Kelly - have a read of this, and I quote: "Ned Kelly (Ledger) and his brother Dan, sons of an Irish pig thief exiled to the Australian penal colony in 1843, formed the core of the Kelly Gang (with two other men), an outlaw gang (they were called "bushrangers", not "cowboys") that roamed across Australia for over two wild years..."  Thank you Hoyts for telling us that here in Australia, we called them bushrangers.  Fucking twats.  Anyway yeah, this ones's about Ned and the rest of the Kelly Gang.

Tuck Everlasting - Its a Disney flick dealing with a girl "on the cusp of maturity".  Its based on a critically acclaimed and awarded novel so perhaps there's some substance to it.  I think Disney should stick to dogs and cute little animated characters personally.

Cradle 2 The Grave - hhmm, something about a diamond heist by a bunch of gangsters resulting in a kidnapping that ends up having the police department of the city searching for them.  Interesting twist, the father of the kidnapped girl has a bunch of gangsters of his own that help the police.  Its a Jet Li flick so expect some fancy footwork here.  Surprised Bruckheimer didn't get a hold of it actually, sounds up his alley.  The name Mark Dacascos appears high on the list of credited actors, this is not good.  He's been making a great living at straight-to-video B-grade flicks for years and years.  He was originally to be the successor to Jean Claude Van Dam but didn't quote reach those dizzy heights...ahem, next.

Bulletproof Monk - Chow Yun Fat meets Hollywood, yeah baby, I'm up for this.  Here's the blurb, and I quote: "For 60 years, a mysterious monk with no name (Chow Yun-Fat) has traversed the globe to protect an ancient scroll - a scroll that holds the key to unlimited power."  Tops.  Chow's done some amazing work in Hong Kong since the mid-80's and when he and Hollywood collided we ended up with Replacement Killers and The Corruptor.  This could be another in that line, wahoo.

X-men 2 - nice, I dug the first one so yeah, more of the same here me thinks.

The Matrix Reloaded - finally a release date on this little puppy.  Filming for both sequals were wrapped up months ago so yeah, its just been a matter of time.  Lauz saw some of it being filmed actually when they were blocking off Sydney streets et al. Cool.  Release date is...<drum roll> <SYMBOL> May 15.  Looking forward to this.

Basic - reads well, something about a legendary commando and a team of his men who go missing in Panama during an military exercise of some sort.  John Travolta and Samuel L Jackson, has promise.

The Hulk - TOOOOOOOOOOOPS!  Not til the 26th of June though, doh.

Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle - yeah dug the first so this should be cool too.

Terminator 3: The Rise Of The Machines - Arnie's back but in what guise I'm not sure.  Michael Biehn's back so this IS good.  He was the one who coupled with Sarah Connor in the first one to make John, if you can remember back that far, lol.  July 17 for that one folks, probably so they still have time to talk Axl into making some decent music for the soundtrack.  Arnie, in case you didn't know, is/was one of the Gunner's biggest fans.
