Murder By Numbers - stars Sandra Bullock
Boredom by numbers, don't bother. You know who does it really early on, you've seen the characters a billions times before and done better, and for anyone not sure about Sandra's appeal - fuggidabowdit!!! (this coming from someone who likes her work). You, me, some rusty pliers and plenty of fingernails to pull, MUCH BETTER FUN! 1 star

The Others - stars Nicole Kidman
I'm probably the last person on the planet to see this, ok so maybe not the WHOLE planet. Man, you people take me too literally. Anyhoo, I think it was Trace who described it the best: "Its not so much what you see, but what is implied". Spot on Trace. This had its moments as far as scary bits go, I was most impressed, and actually challenged the world high jump record a couple of times - not bad for the old 51cm screen eh! Provided Stace quite a few laughs anyway. I don't like Nicole, but she did pretty well, the supporting cast is brilliant, and I didn't see THAT coming. 3 and a half stars.

Serendipity - stars John Cusak and Kate Beckinsale
Brilliant! Anyone into the old "oh it must be fate" theme is going to love this. Ok its been done before, and its probably been done better, but being into that kind've thing, I loved it. John doesn't do anything special, you could put his neurotic angsty character into a thousand of his other movies, but Kate's pretty cool as the other half of this unlikely twist of fate. Spanning two countries and five years, of course its impossible, but don't even start with me, its a great little modern-day fairy tale where love is the winner. Interestingly enough, John Cusak and Jeremy Piven teamed up in a similar sort of "unlikely relationship blossoming" movie in Gross Point Blank, so go rent that as well. 3 and a half stars.

Retro reviews:
Apocalypse Now - stars the completely brain fried Martin Sheen, directed by the even more brain fried Fancis Ford Coppola.
Still don't understand it, 2 stars

The Faculty - stars Josh Harnett, Bilbo (Elija) Wood
Actually reaches its intended potential - high school, people getting dead, then acting really strange (as you would after you're dead) - and then gets completely blown out by an ending from...actually I reckon Mr Coppola broke into the office that day with a pen! 2 and a half stars.
