R.S.V.P. - stars...er...well there's people in it, I think 'star' is a bit strong

Here's an excerpt of what someone at the IMDB [www.imdb.com] wrote about this flick: "Refusing to embrace the Sundance staples of misery, angst, prejudice and dysfunctional families living in abject poverty, director Mark Anthony Galluzzo instead contented himself with actually entertaining the audience with this achingly, hip, witty, black comedy thriller."

Entertaining the audience? LIES! I'm also dubious about the cred of the "Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah". Stace and I somehow got through the whole thing but what for, we're still not sure. There's no whodunnit about it, although it bills itself as a whodunit. This is meant to be a 'mature teen slasher' flick. Suuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrre. They've tried to get some "witty" dialogue to combine with a plush setting with the usual 8-people-go-in-none-survive premise.

Worse still - yup, worse! - Jason "Jay and Silent Bob" Mewes is in this. He has a major part. He acts just like Jay. AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH! 1/2 a star, and that's just caus' the chicks drank beer.

Bad Company - stars Anthony Hopkins, Chris Rock, principal dude from Ed

This has come out of the Bruckheimer factory. Movies by numbers. Reluctant unqualified heros, lack-lustre action scenes, not one ounce of blood, pissy little guns. Think Spy Game, then ruin it by making it Bond-like, tie in a Peacemaker storyline somehow and play the Bad Boys theme over the top of it. Its been done, and done, and done, and done...<yawn>. Joel "Lost Boys" Schumacher should be at home right now giving himself a frontal lobotomy with a rusty coat hanger for even considering the directoral role here, what a waste! Anthony's got some spending money for xmas though so that's nice. Chris Rock is appauling, everything is metaphoric and double-entendre for this man, can someone please tell him this is not a stand-up club.

Having said that, its beautifully filmed, absolutely top notch sequences as far as appearances go. Its sonically acceptable, but like I said, they just used the Bad Boys music and themes everywhere. If you've already rented this, tell noone! If you go ahead and do it anyway, I'll hunt you down and slap you. 1 star.
