Ok I've got some video reviews for you now, this is the express write-up package, lets go nuts:

High Heels and Low Lifes - stars Minnie Driver and Mary McCormack
Hillarious pommy comedy about two chicks who through circumstance decide to rob some blokes who robbed a bank who happen to be part of the biggest crime family in the East End. Girl power! Minnie rocks, Mary is annoying (amercian accent, blech!) and the bumbling coppers are probably the funniest imbeciles ever to hold such a position in a film - highly recommended, I laughed out loud all the way through! 4 stars

Shallow Hal - stars Jack "coolest comic in the history of comedy" Black, Jason Alexander and Gwyneth Paltrow
Reason for hiring: Jack Black. Reasoning for watching through to the end: Jack Black. Reason I'd recommend this movie: Jack Black. Ultimately this movie just pokes fun at ugly people, yet tries to carry off the morals that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and real beauty is on the inside. In the end it just pokes fun at ugly people. And what is ugly anyway? Fuck off! Jason just plays George Castanza, Gwyneth does a reasonable job, Jack plays his surprisingly complex character brilliantly. Jack gets five stars, the movie gets 1 - oh yeah, and it can fuck off! In case you didn't notice this movie really pissed me off, I mean they say that if a movie gets your emotions going, then its done a good job...actually I say that. Well Haynes, you can fuck off too!

The Pledge - stars Jack Nicholson
Booooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiing, 1/2 a star

The Noose - stars Denis Leary
Another movie I hired for the appearance of the lead actor, Denis, he's the man. I hadn't even heard of this, and our friends at IMDB.com haven't either, that made me feel a bit better. But even more curious, not even the (un)official Denis Leary websites out there mention it. Weird. So its a bit of a go somewhere slowly movie, bit like "The Yards" if you've seen that. Set in Boston around an Irish community who's sons all appear to be part of the local Mob. They keep getting offed and everyone covers for the head dude who's doing it, finally Denis takes a stand. Denis plays the lead character and is brilliant in a very refrained state. Not the usual ranting we're used to getting from him. I quite enjoyed this, I'd put it somewhere between "Good Will Hunting" and "The Yards", not as good as the former, and much much better then the latter, accents and all. 3 and 1/2 stars

Now to finish, this has been bugging me for a little while and I thought I'd just get it off my chest, the TV is shitting me again. Ok this is most noticable during the news and it seems to be on most channels. What appears to be happening is that when they break for some ads, and then come back, they don't sync it properly and you get the newsreader talking silently before the sound kicks in, or worse, they come back from the ad late and the newsreader is mid sentence. Now it seems to me that either a) the program director is going out for a smoke during the ads and doesn't quite make it back in time, or b) he or she has gone postal and is pharking things up on purpose. The news is probably the one show I try not to miss on a daily basis, just keeps me abreast of what's happening outside of planet Benno - which as you all know is just completely mental these days - so to have this start to happen is really ripping the crutch out of my nighty! Interesting, has anyone ever written the word nighty before? Doesn't look right hey. So anyone else noticed this or is it just the cold slowing things down over here? I've noticed it on nationally sindicated news as well, Sandra's constantly getting a raw deal out of it.
Hhmm, man I can dribble, need to lower the dossage I think ;-)
Cheers
